POWERS #21! - Brilliant Build-Up

If anyone picked up the latest issue of POWERS - #21, you'll know that we're in the midst of a really good run-up to the end of the current arc, which then should lead us into an epic confrontation on the next six issues.

This lastest issue had all the earmarks of a classic POWERS story, with a building mystery, solid banter, excellent characterization, and Mike Oeming's positively awesome art. His style is getting cleaner and angular while rougher (crazy thick lines) and purely unique to him all at the same time. There are several Deena panels where her expression or simply being cloaked in darkness are worth the price of the book alone.

Supershock went completely insane and permanently changed a lot of things in the world of Powers. This storyarc looks like its about to be just as shocking as to how BIG the story is about to get and dangerous too for all involved. And I think it would be safe to say EXCITING too!

This is one great book.

I too, worry about Deena, I mean DAMN, Her and Walker are the focus of this "cop-buddy" book and it all feels like a showdown between the two is brewin'...

I picked up Powers #1 (from its first run with Image ) many years ago on a whim when I saw it on the stands. I flipped through it, figured what the hell and bought it. I have not regreted it since.

Honestly, I thought the best part of the entire issue was Deena crying when that magic guy attacked police headquarters. Cuz it got me thinking, this is Deena freaking Pilgrim! Why is she crying like a rookie? And then I realized it's because she has Powers now and can't use them in front of the police (especially the IA chick). She has to watch from the sidelines as other cops get killed! That is some fu<d>cked up ____. BMB and MAO sure no how to tell a damn good story. I love Powers.
