So according to the new solit there's a "new" Iron Man:

CIVIL WAR: THE INITIATIVE

Pencils and Cover by MARC SILVESTRI
The post war Marvel Universe begins here! The war is over!! Let the healing begin!! This all-new special written by Brian Bendis, especially for modern legend Marc Silvestri, debuts the all new IRON MAN, OMEGA FLIGHT, MIGHTY AVENGERS, NEW AVENGERS and with a special chapter written by Warren Ellis...THUNDERBOLTS! Each chapter is an important all-new prologue for each of these huge new series and sets up the radically altered landscape that makes up the post-Civil War Marvel Universe!
64 PGS./RATED T+ …$4.99

What are your thoughts? A new Iron Man? If so, who? Or is it just a new direction for our armored "hero"? Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Where the heck did you get that?

My apologies, I did not notice the updated front page.

I think it's just a change in creative direction.

Well, they're technically previews of previews.

Variant cover by Gerald Parel has been floating around the internet since Mondayhttp://images.comicbookresources.com/litg/20061106/iron-man.jpg

They'll probably have Tony disgraced because of his actions in Civil War, start drinking and Jim Rhodes takes over for a stint again. Havent heard from that guy in years.

If they go the Director of SHIELD (which would actually make perfect sense) route, then they might actually just try to have him follow the Cable/Spartan route, of trying to "save" the world their own way.

Although, I doubt they would use that Parel cover, it really isn't all that distinctive if you ask me.

He's heading up O*N*E* oe something like that.

My guess is it will be a new direction for Iron Man. Which is really what Warren Ellis gave him, didn't need CW for that.

Except that was explained away as nothing more than an artist getting creative with some Marvel characters. There's also a Captain America: President one and a Mr Fantastic: F4 Agent or something. And a few others. I doubt Cap's gonna be president anytime soon and while Tony might end up as SHIELD director I don't think this image'll ever show up as legit.

None of those were pulled from Parel's website.

Well, we'll see. I bet it was pulled more because it reflected what is going to actually happen instead of that it depicted what is going to actually happen.

The Director of SHIELD rumor isn't new and comic fans are pretty astute. I won't be surprised if it's true. I WILL be surprised if this image is used by Marvel, and if it IS used I bet Joe comes along as says that it wasn't originally a commisioned piece but they liked it so much that they paid to use it or something to that effect.

No Joe will say "Sometimes these things accendently get out. We just have to try and dance around them as best as we can." Or something to that extent.

If it turns out to be true, that is.

I'll give you a virtual quarter if he does. ;)

Either way, we'll see how it all turns out. I'm hoping the "all new IRON MAN" is either a cop out where Tony poorly covers his secret ID again or Tony running the armor by remote. Since it's "all new" it won't be Rhodey, and that's the only other hope I've got. Ah well, it may be the best thing ever, so I'll wait and see.

Deal.

And wait and see is probably the best position to take right now. Seeing as Civil War isn't even close to being done. But hey, Wednesday sees Iron Man's New Avengers issue, his own title's CW ti-in, and Civil War proper. So there will be plenty of Iron Man on Wednesday! (Which could be good or bad really)

Considering he (kinda) hinted that he didn't know if he'd be surviving Civil War in the last issue of New Avengers... :(

That would be the worst possible thing to happen for me. I may not agree with him (at all) on his stance in CW (even though I defend it ALL THE TIME), Tony's my favorite Marvel character and the MU would be a little lonelier with him not in it.

I just can't see them killing him in light of the Iron Man movie. Though he may fake his death, so he can operate as head of SHEILD.

I think either Hank Pym or Clint Barton will be wearing the armour when the dust settles.

you might be right, but i really hope you're wrong.

i'd rather have Clint Barton inactive than have him in the armor, to be honest -- what made him interesting to me was the fact that he had to work to fit in with the Avengers, like all characters without a variety of powers must do. putting him a powerful suit of armor lessens what i liked about Clint Barton as a character.

I agree totally. Hawkeye has always been my favorite character. However in the previews for Mighty Avengers, there is a bit of dialogue between Wasp and IM that says something like "Ooo, look at the tough guy with his new powers". The exchange seems to me that it is definitely between either her and hank or her and Clint. And, Queseda has sais that the new chick will still be Hawkeye.

I wish NA 26 would hurry up an get here!!!

Yeah, those previews were nearly as uninformative as Gunslinger's Wednesday afternoon comics reviews.

"Awesome issue. Loved the last page."

A "new" Iron Man would just suck.

I hate that DC casually replaces thier heroes left and right and I really hope Marvel doesn't do some stupid "legacy" crap here.

Tony Stark IS Iron Man!

I don't do reviews!
I just said that I like it or not!
Every writer or whatever guy wrote the solitics can think of something that won't spil the issue!

I'm not sure if they will get a new Iron Man, as his ongoing is keeping the same team.

I hope not, anyway, Extremis and Civil War have made Stark a much more interesting character than he has been in a while, would be a real shame to get rid of him.
