Just added birds of prey to my pull after reading #98 HELP Please

Ok so I wanted to see what the batgirl stuff was about so I purchased birds of prey #98 and if i like the new lineup i'll prolly keep getting it. On that note can anyone give me a little background as to what I need to know to start reading this title monthly.

You're getting in at a good time. They just wrapped up the first big 1YL arc. The girl was being trained to be another Lady Shiva. When Shiva and Black Canary swapped places and Canary was taking Shiva's training, she found the girl being put through brutal training and took it upon herself to rescue her. Basically all you need to know is she's asian, has very little in the way of English skills, and has the potential to be a martial arts master.

yeah I got in around issue 96 so I missed the whole thing about where the little girl came from. I had seen BOP on the shelves and kept playing with the thought of buying it cos I've always loved Barbara, Canary and the Huntress. I finally picked up a copy and I've been hooked for the last few months. BOP is one of the very best books around. And as far as the writing goes it just may be the VERY best.

I've been telling everyone I know for the last three months that the books they should try are BOP and JONAH HEX.

If even 10 percent of the books coming out these days had the quality of these two, I'd be robbing people to afford them!

I'd recommend picking up some of the TPB's of Simone's earlier issues as well. Ed Benes on art with Simone scripts. How can you lose?

Yeah, check out the "Of Like Minds" tpb... Gail's first and best arc, imo :)
