Bwahahahahaha! I'm still getting it when it comes out but I'm not holding my breath for this thing to maintain its Bi-Monthly schedule. Damn shame too. At least The Authority should be out on time. That hasn't been pushed back as far as I know.

It's sad, but I actually kind of want this to be habitually late. I can't afford another regular book, but I can afford something that comes out 5 times a year.

i honestly don't know why companies even solicit the #1 issue of new titles until they know it's going to be ready.

Because they hate us, and love watching us squirm.

I didn't realize this, but I guess I just decided that except for Stormwatch, I'm going TPBs on all the new Wildstorm stuff.

Our top story tonight, life came to a screeching halt today because a comic book was postponed. More at 11...
...which will now never happen.

This lateness in the industry is becoming so commonplace that it seems at some point in the near future comics will all be quarterly. It really is a joke. If an artist cannot put out good art at 32 pages a month, employ better artists. With Jim Lee, it is just because he has so much other responsibility, but that's no excuse for taking on something he knew he wouldn't be able to do.
Wildcats will be on the Ultimates shipping schedule.

Wow, I misread that as "Will WILDCAT ever come out"
Thought I'd missed something with the new JSA incarnation.

Bingo.
There's a definite shift in the business model, with books being delayed for artistic consistency and high-profile writers being given as much time as they feel they need to write that all-important second issue:p ... all to make the eventual collection that Barnes and Noble will sell (as opposed to the monthlies they won't stock) more attractive.
Intentionally or not, we are being weaned off monthlies. I wouldn't be to surprised if ten years from now, the "monthly" installments will be only available via download and only published as hardcopy once the arc is complete.
The current situation really wouldn't bother me at all if they would just wake up and smell the scheduling problems. Stop soliciting these as monthly publications when quite a number of popular titles clearly aren't monthly. Only nine (kickass) issues of GL a year? Okay. Be upfront about it, and present it that way. Geoff Johns was fairly candid about it in that article on the front page.

First time on the DC boards here, so hello to all.
This looks really promising. I just checked the solicitations and it says October and November issues and then Bi-Monthy after that. So hopefully this will help it come out on time and with great artwork.

They've really botched this relaunch so far. Wetworks was confusing and not friendly to new fans. The other launch title keeps getting delayed.

Honestly, I've said before that I thought the monthly comic was going to vanish.
The format of comics today is terrible. We have the worst of everything.
Something will NEED to change.
Although I don't think anyone knows what needs to change.

I fully support going to quarterly digests similar to manga. It just makes more sense to me and would be cheaper in the long run.

I think we should go to monthly digests.
And then put out like a collection every 6-12 months or so when there are 150-200 pages of material that make up a full story movement.

 Do you draw comic books for a living? If not, then how do you explain how you know so much about how fast a comic book artist can, and should, draw?

a few high profile projects have been late and everybody yell's doom. it's honestly kind of rediculous.
90+% of the big 2's books come out on time like clockwork (maybe there's a week or 2 delay here and there, but in a production chain as long as the average comic book things are going to happen) and the world keeps on spinning....

He might not, but the people working for Marvel and DC do. As such, they should put out their product on time, or at least as close to that as possible. If you are a professional comic artist, then act professionally.

I love Wildcats and I've followed them through every incarnation from WildC.A.T.S. to Wildcats 3.0 to Wildcats: Nemesis. That being said, I'll definitely wait for the newest version of the book knowing full well that a year from now, we'll be talking about the delays to issue #5--to me, it just means more money in my pocket.
The way I see it, I give the Lee and Morrissen run about a year no matter what, and then a new creative team (or at least a new artist) will take over that will restore it to a monthly schedule...

JRjr and Mark Bagley have no trouble getting issues out on time. Hell, Bagley can and has put out 18 issues in a year. Plenty of good artists can draw quickly. Remember when Bryan Hitch was on the Authority? That was monthly and, dare I say, better than his Ultimates work.
Solicits for Oct 2007
All Star Batman & Robin # 7
Wildcats # 3

You're an optimist, clearly.
I doubt we'll see ASBARTBW #7 before 2008. ;)

See, this is the attitude I don't get. I didn't find it confusing at all. I assumed, going in, that there would be stuff I wasn't aware of. But lots of stories start in media res, and not just in comic books.
Now, I didn't think it was all that great, either. But not because it was confusing.

What don't you get? The fact that I want to actually know what's going on when I read a book? I read the thread on it here and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. I know exactly one character's name and that's because she was actually referred to by name during the book. I had to read the freaking wiki entry for the book to figure out who the other characters are. Would it have killed them to do a page with a few paragraphs telling you what the main concept was and maybe having little pictures of all the characters with their names?

I'll mention this again, for those of you that don't understand what's going on... and the reason why there wasn't a little "intro" page...
it's because this book was complete... ready to go to the printer (as well as the rest of the first 6 issues)... 2 1/2 years ago... this is a DIRECT continuation of the 2 short stories in the Eye of the Storm Annual and the Coup D'Etat: Afterword... and in those stories, virtually EVERYTHING that you needed to get into WetWorks #1 was given to you... characters, their present situation, their history, and what was the catalyst for the book to be relaunched...
DC, in their infinite wisdom, viewed the Coup D' Etat event as a failure and shelved WetWorks... when the WorldStorm event was conceived, it was an opportunity for the book to have its relaunch... and as such, they used the issues that were already "in the can" as the beginning of the story...
now, with that said... had this book been relaunched as it was originally conceived, there would have been absolutely no reason for a "recap" page, because all of the info would have still been readily available on the shelves at your LCS so that you could find out what was going on... but as it was released, DC (again) managed to royally screw up a Wildstorm titles launch... the creators are NOT at fault for release delays on the editorial level, and such should not be blamed for DC choosing to hold this relaunch for 2 years...
any confusion on the part of new readers falls squarely on the shoulders of DC and Wildstorm regarding this book (and the reason that I include DC is because they decide if Wildstorm CAN release stuff and WHEN it is released... so the 2 1/2 year delay is most certainly their fault)...
now, if DC and Wildstorm are smart, they collect the 2 stories from the Eye of the Storm Annual and the Coup D' Etat: Afterword and release them as an issue 0, similarly to how the Supergirl story from Superman/Batman was released as an issue 0 for the ongoing Supergirl story, or how the Ultimate Vision back-up stories are being collected and released as an issue 0 for that particular mini-series... they could also include a breif synopsis of the first series and a new story with their origin shown again or some sketchbook stuff with character bios and what-not...
I think this would clear up any questions that new readers have
