And Tacoma, Washington's COMIC BOOK INK is lucky enough to be hosting a signing with both Brubaker and MICHAEL LARK...the FANTASTIC ARTIST of his DAREDEVIL!
"We feel incredibly lucky to be hosting this signing in September," said COMIC BOOK INK's owner, JOHN MUNN, "These two men have are at the top of their game...and that's saying something. Considering they have already created memorable stories and beautifully detailed art for the comic industry's 'Big Two' of MARVEL and DC."
ED BRUBAKER'S work DC COMICS includes such titles as SCENE of the CRIME and GOTHAM CENTRAL (with Michael Lark), as well as BATMAN, DETECTIVE COMICS, CATWOMAN and his creater owned SLEEPER. He is currently part of the creative renaissance at MARVEL COMICS; doing landmark work on THE UNCANNY X-MEN, CAPTAIN AMERICA and DAREDEVIL (with Michael Lark). His first creator owned work for Marvel, CRIMINAL, will debut under Marvel's ICON inprint in October of this year! He is a multiple EISNER and HARVEY AWARD Nominee. He is also the recepient of the 2000 PRISM AWARD and the 2004 GLAAD MEDIA AWARD...both for his work on CATWOMAN.
MICHAEL LARK'S work speaks for itself. His attention to detail, and stylistic noir, have earned him the reputation of a favorite with both industy fans and insiders. It was at DC COMICS where he first honed his strong narrative style...working on such titles as SCENE of the CRIME and GOTHAM CENTRAL (both with Ed Brubaker), as well as BATMAN, SUPERMAN, BOOKS of MAGIC, TERMINAL CITY and THE INVISIBLES. His current work on DAREDEVIL for MARVEL COMICS (also with Ed Brubaker) has captured the of both the gritty streets of New York and the grim interiors of prison life.
"The two men are wonderfully grounded in realism," Munn continued, "Their work is a perfect example of how the comic book industry has re-established itself with innovative ideas, crafted prose and groundbreaking visuals. To have them both here for a co-signing is a testament to the fans who have helped our store become a wonderful experience for the industry professionals who visit us."
COMIC BOOK INK was established in 2002 with the mission of being clean, open, inviting and family friendly. Since opening its doors in October of that year, it has hosted signings by Industry Giants as BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS, CLAYTON CRAIN, ROBERT KIRKMAN and ADAM KUBERT. The shop and has also been nominated for the past two years for the WILL EISNER SPIRIT of RETAILING AWARD. Their first nomination occured in the shop's first year of eligibilty. This year brought their second nomination in which they reached the semi-finalist round out of over 3,000 comic book shops in the world.
"I still consider us to be a relatively young shop," Munn recognized, "But we are proud to be part of an incredible community of Comic Book Retailers in Washington State. We can only consider ourselves to be very fortunate to host such an incredible signing with both Mr. Brubaker and Mr. Lark!"
