It will be out in December. I believe it's tentatively scheduled right now for the 6th, but we'll find out with the next batch of solicitations.
Dale Eaglesham told me in Toronto that he was pretty much done with the first issue, which is a whopping 40 pages!!!

Thanks for the info. So the team is Johns and Ross writing and Eaglesham doing the art. And is Ross doing the covers i thought i heard that somewhere.

Didn't know Ross was co-writing it, that's interesting if true. Not sure if he's doing all of the covers, but I know he did the first issue's cover, which was online somewhere here on Newsarama.

It was in Wizard a while back that Ross will be helping with the plot

I believe he is a "creative consultant," whatever that means.

Alex Ross defined his role in this article from the Newsarama front page (http://www.newsarama.com/dcnew/JSA/JusticeSociety.html).
He is acting as a consultant on the characters and story ideas. While he's not co-plotting the series now, he is expected to co-plot one upcoming storyline.
And yes, he's doing covers, as well as designs for the characters' costumes. Dale Eaglesham, as artist on the series, will help Geoff Johns define their personalities within the pages.
I got the chance to talk to both Geoff Johns and Dale Eaglesham in Toronto, and their excitement about the series is contagious. It sounds like it's going to be an amazing first issue, and all the new characters are going to make the team really diverse and fun.
Here's what Geoff posted on his site (http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34270) about Dale Eaglesham and Justice Society:
I had the lucky opportunity to have dinner with a few friends on Saturday night in Toronto including Ethan and Sharis and Dale and his wife! Dale has just finished the first issue of JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA - all 40 pages! Insanity.
Dale and I talked character nearly the entire time. All of the new members coming on stage, the current ones and we're they're headed. There are a lot of changes in store for the team. We have a huge cast, a la Paul Levitz's great LEGION OF SUPERHEROES run, but all our stories have the sole purpose of advancing and changing our characters.
We're taking great care in the direction we're taking the members of the Justice Society and in the new ones we're introducing. I hope the hard work pays off in a book you all can't wait to read every month.
Dale's starting issue #2. Alex is about to start the cover to #3. We've got a good lead time and with something special planned for 5 and 6, we'll be getting you this book on time every month.
Anyway, that's the update. And wait until you see Dale's Stargirl.
