52 Mysteries (spoilers for 52)

I thought it would be fun to keep a list of all the mysteries that are threaded through the 52 weekly series, as well as the hints that have been given. I'll come back in and edit this first post to try to keep it updated if you guys will help me list stuff.

1) What is 52?
- Vox screams it in the hospital after arriving in the Zeta Beam from space
- Rip Hunter has it written on his board - in circles
- Red Tornado says it to native Australians who find his broken body

2) Who is Supernova?
- He can seemingly teleport large objects
- He seems like an experienced hero according to Clark's observations
- Had bitterness toward Booster

3) When/Where is Rip Hunter?

4) Who is kidnapping scientists and why?
- Professor Morrow disappeared, left code for Doc Magnus to rebuild his Metal Men
- Who was watching Morrow in his prison cell?
- The two guys who kidnapped Dr Sivana had reptilian and hairy/wolven arms, respectively.

5) Is Ralph crazy?
- Deceased Sue seemed to talk to him
- Dr. Fate's helmet spoke to him but nobody else heard it

6) Time is Broken???

7) Is it Booster's fault? Or Skeets' fault? Something wrong with Skeets?
- Rip Hunter had arrows pointing their way, saying "it's his fault"

8) What is World War III?
- Mentioned on Rip Hunter's board
- X's marked WW III spots on the globe

9) Why are the space heroes being hunted?
- Saw something they weren't supposed to see, according to Devilance

10) Booster's dead? Replaced? Returned?
- Body caught by Supernova: Sure looks dead!
- Ancestor found by Skeets

11) What happens to Lex's superteam?
- Not around OYL

12) What is the fate of the space heroes?
- Animal Man doesn't seem to be around according to WW, Supes and Bats in JLA
- Starfire mentioned by Red Star in TT among dead heroes

13) What is going on with Intergang? What are they doing?
- Present in Gotham: 520 Kane St.
- Importing high-tech guns
- Enlisting children as human bombs
- Shipmets from Kahndaq to Gotham
- Killed five people in Kahndaq to frame Question and Montoya

14) Who is the new Dr. Fate?

15) Lobo found religion???

16) Superboy cult?
- Trying to resurrect Conner
- Getting help from Wonder Girl
- Leader named Devem
- Tried to resurrect Sue Dibny (did they succeed?)

17) Kate Kane is Batwoman?
- Renee's ex, rich socialite
- Someone's taught her to hit?

18) Where is Mr. Mind?
- Seen in Dr. Sivana's lab in a jar
- Had broken out from a cocoon and from the jar, per evidence found by Magnus


I know there are tons of hints I haven't listed and even more mysteries. Care to add to the list? You're welcome to post your theories -- but I could use some help with actual, concrete hints that have been given within the comic.

1) Based on current evidence it is whatever Devilance thought that Animal Man, Starfire, and Adam Strange saw that they weren't supposed to see. Not much else we can really say on that at the moment.

2) I'm still banking on Booster's Son from the future who just turned himself into a paradox by trying to teach his dad a lesson. Oh and you forgot that he seems to have some bitterness towards Booster.

3) Sometime in the next 34 weeks. :p

4) Integang, we pretty much know this for sure now I believe.

5-6) No question?

7) Define crazy.

8) Yes it is.

9) I say blame both, but my instinct says Skeets.

10) A World War that occurs after the second one.:p

11) People think they saw 52.

12) Dead as a doornail.

13) There seem to be bad side effects to the treatment, so I would guess they are cured or killed(probably some of both).

14) They are stuck on Mars waiting for someone to notice them.

15) Thy are making a power grab. They are using the worst tactics possible to get the results they want with minimal retaliation.

You can add that Red Tornado says "52" to a bunch of bushmen at the end of issue #17.

I believe that the space heroes accidentally saw the Marvel universe, and they are being hunted b/c only the gods have knowledge of this other universe.

The whole Krona space egg (to my knowledge) has yet to be addressed from JLA/Avengers from either company.

The annhilation wave in Marvel could be caused by a SuperboyPrime continuity punch (NOTE: I am not reading any of the annhilation books, I just heard that there was something called an annhilation wave).

Marvel/DC crossover is bound to happen again soon, this is just the seed!

I was rereading Week 18 and I just realized that the reason they haven't found Isis's brother yet is because he is probably still in Intergang custody. I theorize based on what we have seen that Intergang is brainwashing children which they will use as their shock troops in an upcoming conflict because children will result in greater hesitation. They are probably also using them as lab rats for all the scientists they are kidnapping. Although this still leaves a large number of questions I suppose.

I don't know about this...but wouldn't it be wild if that was the real reason Civil War was delayed? As to the egg/JLAvengers, it is in Marvel continuity: In All-New Official Handbook/Marvel U #5, under the Grandmaster entry--

"...Earth-616 realitywas invaded and menaced by a crazed scholar from a divergent cosmos...who had destroyed entire universes in seeking the origin of all existance...As the game unfolded Earh-616's Avengers...and a league of heroes from the divergent cosmos....and trapping the scholar's essence in a cosmic egg"


It could be, but I doubt it...but considering the big events from both companies seemed to have spun from the crossover, you never know.

Oh, one other "52" question...what happened to Lex? In OYL, he was back to being disgraced and taking revenge on Metropolis.

I especially find this one interesting:

"Te versus (Au +Pb)" Now, that's juicy. Te is the symbol for Tellurium: Element 52. Au and PB are elements 79 and 82, but it's probably not their numbers that are signficiant. Au is Gold and Pb is Lead. This might refer to the now inoperative Metal Men of Doc Magnus. But given the rest of the board, I'm leaning toward some connection to Booster GOLD and the "dead by lead?" clue.

Oh, and exposure to Tellurium will give you "garlic breath"; could that be the "He won't smell it" reference?

So it makes Lead stronger; it's most often found in Gold; and it's main function is to combine with other metal elements. Combine this with "Dead by Lead"...well, it makes you wonder what's hiding in the Metal Men and if it could be related to the codes T.O. Morrow gave to Doc Magnus.

At least in my opinion, it brings up the whole "A.I. revolution" again which could tie in Brainiac, Skeets and many other things.

Possible SPOILERS here.

1) 52 individuals and/or artifacts that are anomalous to New Earth, from other realities (Earths). [Tangent Lantern, Kingdom and TT Animated characters, Marvin & Wendy ect.]
52 events altered at various points in the timestream. [Monitors monitoring Donna and Nightwing (both was suppose to die during the Infinite Crisis), Supergirl ect.]

2) My guess is Takion. He posses teleportational abilities, flight, matter manipulation ect. He is the living embodiment of the Source to which time is a part of and would be aware of Booster altering it and would want to stop it. He is Fourth World related.

3) No idea on Rip Hunter.

4) Just a wild guess on this one but i would say the Society. Talia using Man-Bat ninjas in isues of the OYL Bat books so its possible they are creating other creatures. Maybe Project Cadmus they have also cloned creatures in the past for use. I have no idea no idea what either of them would need from the scientists.

According to the 52 sight it was Egg Fu watching Morrow but this may not be accurate.

5) No idea on this one either.

6) Again possibly 52 crucial events have been altered throughout the timestream.

7) No idea.

8) Most likely tied to Black Adam and his Coalition unless it is an actual World War in that case it is tied to the events of the space heroes and whats going on in Mystery in Space and the new Omega Men series.

9) This i assume is tied to Lady Styx (who is said to revial Darkseid in power) and the Eternal Light Corporation.

I also think the "Four Horsemen will end her rain" is tied to this. The Four Horsemen being the Four Horsemen from Apokolips [Darkseid and his 3 sons Grayven, Orion, and Kalibak]

11) Geoff has said on his forum the team will be getting new codenames, a new team name and new costumes in the future [Infinity Inc, Conglomerate?]

12) It has been said that one will not return to Earth. It's is possible they all survive and the one not to return is Adam Strange he's not based on Earth to begin with. It's possible both Starfire and Animal Man is presumed dead because they have yet to return to Earth OYL.

14) Looking like it's being setup for Ralph to become the new Doctor Fate.

15) Maybe he's undercover for the L.E.G.I.O.N or working for Darkseid to infiltrate the Eternal Light Corporation. A Leopard after all don't change it's spots and i don't see Lobo embracing the Light.

16) No idea on this one other than Dev-Em has a rich history with the Legion of Super-Heroes and it has been stated the Legion will be appearing in 52. Dev-Em has went through various incarnations from being Kryptonian from the past sent to the future, to a Daxamite sent from the past to the future to a Titanian (Saturn Girl's race) from the 30th century whos mental abilities were so powerful that he alterd his body mentally to become Kryptonian).

17) No idea here maybe Kathy was trained offworld by the Warlords of Okaara in return her father would run and store the weapons for Intergang and their alien connections. In return she adopts the Batwoman identity to atone for her father's crimes and to act in secret while doing so. Just a wild theory.

18) My guess on this one forming the new Monster Society of Evil that suppose to be appearing soon
