With news of yet another Kryptonian coming do ya'll prefer a more post-Crisis only Kryptonian view or Silver Age Super-Family idea?

Last Son of Krypton, only survivor of a dead planet. Not even Krypto would be around if I had my way.

Family, though nothing overboard. Superman, Supergirl and Superboy is plenty, with Krypto and the Superman Robots as optional extras. I like analogues, so a few for the Man of Steel ain't a bad thing in my book, so long as it doesn't dilute the 'Last Son of Krypton' tag too much.

I do jibe a bit when I hear people going on about getting rid of Krypto, Supergirl and whatever, when they've been around for practically as long as Spider-Man and co. It's like when people say that Robin 'ruined' the Batman concept - so Batman's been crap since the '40s? It's a bit daft, to say the least.

Personally, I can think of far worse things that can taint a character - I reckon 'Birthright' did more to damage Superman than a couple of extraneous spin-offs.

They try to make that "Last Son of Krypton" thing stick, and it really hasn't stuck since the Golden Age. Byrne got it that way for a while after COIE, but then we got the Time Trapper's pocket universe, otherdimensional Zod and Co., and Supergirl. She was not Kryptonian, but -- c'mon, it's Supergirl.

I've seen it done both ways. And as ridiculous as a lot of it is (Super-intellligent flying dog. With X-ray vision? In a CAPE?) the same ideas can also be fantastic if handled well. Super-intellligent flying dog! With X-ray vision! In a CAPE! P.I.M.P! )

So as long as they don't have the entire House of El show up at the Kents -- even that might make a funny one-pager for Bizarro Comics in the right hands -- I'm fine with his cousin and her issues, and his stylin' dog, and the eventual return/reboot of Zod.

I'm even okay with the kid we've not yet met at this point, although I keep thinking he may be from Daxam and not Krypton when all is said and done.

I voted "Last Son of Krypton", but I also like a Superman Family--but it doesn't have to be a Kryptonian Superman Family. Linda Danvers as Supergirl, John Henry Irons as Steel, Conner Kent as Superboy, the Eradicator... THAT was a cool Superman family!

Kal El SHOULD be the last Kryptonian... I hate it that they can't keep the number down. "Hybrids" like Conner are nice, an Eradicator works but fullfledged Kryptonians - please no.

Superman is the last of his kind, this "forever alone" motive works so well with Superman and should be one of the stronger aspects in the mythos, and not allways watered down because they need someone for Kal to punch or relate with or watch after - I do not need generals, cousins or superdogs...

Family. Definitely.

The "Last Son" aspect is one of the few things about Supes that I actually like. Having said that, I thought Connor worked as Superboy becuase he was different (a half-human/halkf-Kryptonian clone) - allowing Supes to have an extended family while still retaining Kal's uniqueness. I say leave the other stuff back in the Silver Age where it belongs.

The whole damn family needs to be there. The 80s stripped the Superman books of not only the SUPERman part of the mythos, but his entire world as well, which is a huge part why Superman floundered for so long. they were selling sub 25K per issue for a few years there folks. The central icon of the whole god blessed medium. That was a disgrace. Now that the classic Superman is starting to come back, the comics are not only worth reading, but All-Star & Superman are among the best super-hero comics on the shelves today. And Superman/Batman (World's Finest) and Supergirl are among the top sellers in the industry. Who would have thought that THAT could have been possible in the 80s when the original versions of those titles were cancelled? No one. And it only happened because the real Superman finally came back.

I know it's a cop-out answer but I like both. :D

I really can't decide. I like the last son aspect a lot though.

Last Son of Krypton, by far. If I ever get a writing gig at DC, my first story will be about Supergirl, Krypto and whatever worthless spinoff characters are at the time all being hurled into the sun by Lobo.

There was some super-cop from Kandor on an old record I had as a kid. I thought he was pretty awesome, so I guess I'm ok with the super-family.

Good stories, no matter which way they go.

This is turning out a lot closer than I was expecting...I thought it would be a 'Last Son' blowout. I'm glad to see people appreciate family.

I like the idea of a Super family. I would love to see an issue of Superman where you have Superman with Supergirl, Steel, Superboy, Power Girl (why not, she's from E-2 Krypton) Krypto, and The Eradicator, along with Lois, Lana, Pete Ross, Ma and Pa Kent all together for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I think a blend of the two is probably best, but since I don't think we really need a Super Horse, I'm gonna say the blend should be more Last Son. I don't like the current Supergirl, but am all for Power Girl having Kryptonian status.
