<i>Press Release</i>
<blockquote>Checker Book Publishing Group has announced a licensing agreement under which Checker will reprint the original The Trouble With Girls comics in a series of trade paperbacks beginning in November 2006.
The Trouble With Girls debuted in 1987 during the black and white comics heyday. Created by former National Lampoon contributors Will Jacobs and Eisner award winning author Gerard Jones; this series spoofed anyone and everyone as it quickly became one of the best selling indy titles of all time. Drawn by Tim Hamilton; this spy parody was a fan favorite and set the standard for independent comics humor.
Eventually, forty plus issues would appear under several publishing banners such as Eternity, Malibu, Comico, and Epic. The title was regarded as Malibu’s best selling series prior to that company’s demise.
The first edition, */The Trouble With Girls, V. 1/* (ISBN#: 1933160454), ships in November and will collect the first seven issues of the Malibu series. The second Volume (ISBN#: 1933160012) will also collect seven issues (#8-14) of the Malibu series and ships in January 2007.</blockquote>

Fantastic news. I have the original collections put out by Eternity but they're like 20 years old (and only cover the first two arcs).
Hopefully this will eventually lead to some new material...
Whenever I say that Gerard Jones' Green Lantern really isn't so very good, people point to this and say it really is very, very good, so I'm curious to see it.
Any idea on a price point?

I always wondered what happened to the other two guys involved with the book (Will Jacobs and Tim Hamilton).
I know Jacobs co-wrote both the TWG movie script for FOX and the HBO pilot (neither of which were greenlighted) - but I haven't heard of him doing anything since.
Tim Hamilton penciled a few Marvel books in the early 90's, but dropped off the face of the Earth after that. I'd love it if Checker Book included some new introductions by the creators...

I've known this for years...Patrick Warburton as Lester Girls.
And Owen Wilson as Apache Dick

Trouble With Girls is fun stuff, and well worth a read. And if you folks support it, there's a lot of it to come!

vbartilucci, good choices. Owen would knock the ball out of the park as Apache.
If Warburton isn't big enough, you could substitute Luke Wilson for Lester. Devon Aoki could be the Lizard Lady. I'm not sure who would be good for Maxi Scoops, though.

Worst idea ever!
Just kidding. :D
Ought to be odd when they reach the short color run. But I hope they reprint the novel excerpts, as was done in the Eternity TPBs.

How about Jennifer Aniston? She can play plain or sexy. And its goitta be Warburton and Owen!

Hi everyone,
To answer some of the above questions:
I did do some books after Marvel. See links below:
http://www.darkhorse.com/search/search.php?sstring=Tim+Hamilton&match=all&scope=products
After that I did some work with Defiant and Broadway. Most of which went unseen as
those companies went under before my books saw the light of day.
I do the illustration/ graphic design thing now plus some fun stuff for
Nickelodeon. ( http://hamilton-tim.pair.com/Cartoons.htm )
You can see some of my recent comic work below:

I’ll be doing new covers for the two “Girls” collections.
I don’t know yet what kind of introductions the books will have, but
I’ll pass along your requests!
Thanks,
Tim Hamilton

Tim, awesome to see you posting on these boards. Just checked out your Live Journal…anyone who loves Miike and loathes Bush is ok in my book!
In terms of the collections: I'd love any sort of introductions from Gerard, Jacobs and yourself. Any unused art, alterative covers, etc. would be sweet as well.
By the way (and I have to ask) have you guys ever discussed producing any new Girls material? I've asked Gerard Jones a few times over the years and he's always sounded like it's something that's inevitable...but not necessarily imminent.

We haven't really talked about it that much.
Gerard and I have only pitched animated projects together since
those days. Animated projects that have never made it past
the producers thoughtful gaze sorry to say.
I did TTWG for so long, I don't know if I would do it again. Maybe a one shot?
Tim:)

Fantastic news as this is one of my all-time favourite series. I had every issue and spin-off except the Lizard Lady stuff from Aircel (never sure if it was a one-shot or a mini-series).
Anyone know if the spin-offs (Apache Dick, Lester Girls, Lizard Lady, Hard Hitters Annual) will be included in these trades (presuming they continue)? And as the Lizard Lady apparently was very adult in content, will it see reprint at all?
In any event - can't wait for the trades!
(PS Surely Lucy Liu is the destined to be the Lizard Lady - even the initials are the same)

I illustrated (pencils and inks) the Lizard Lady four issue mini-series and had a blast doing it. You're right that it was XXX rated content, but it was as hilarious as everything else in the series.
Chuck Austin, who preceded me as the inker over Tim's pencils, initiated the large breasted version of Lizard Lady, as I understand it. This proved very popular (funny thing) and I was only too happy to continue the errrr, tradition. To the point, in fact, that a request came down that I scale her magnificent mams in a tad.
Worth mentioning is that Darek Robertson drew the Apache Dick mini-series.
Tim's envisioning of Les and his pals and gals is of course definitive.
