Why?: Mostly because of the supporting casts...I really love the sense of family/comraderie...action/conflict only goes so far if there is something at risk. Whether it's kin...or it's something like the Corps... also the sense of interconnectedness...love that DC has these "family pods" that have such a long history within themselves...and that also connect with other families. Love it. (and ...hot girls in fishnets.)

Nah, but talking of *angst-filled pretty boys*, no one better fits that description than Hal Jordon. :pWow...that's way off base. The only angst-driven Hal Jordan GL story I can think of is the Emerald Dawn revamp, where they tried to go all Peter Parker with his origin.

Prior to that, he was always one of the least angsty of the original JLAers. I mean...he was based on Chuck Yeager's personality. Yeager was Indiana Jones in a flight suit.

But it's funny, I think that description applies to most modern DCU / Marvel heroes...the artists draw them all purty, all the time. And angsty? Isn't that the cheap pathos of most modern comics? It sure seems like there's a rule that the main characater has to brood for two panels per issue, minimum.
