Which of these ladies should join BOP? (Issue #100 spoilers)

I love the current members but I'd like to see someone who has a TOTALLY different world view than the current members have. Someone to mix up the group dynamic. Stir the pot a bit. I think these two would do that best.

I'd go with Barda.

If you look at the makeup of the Birds, they don't really have any powerhouses. Their actions are/were limited to espionage or mundane crimes. Barda would add a nice high power edge they need. Then there is her marriage relationship to Scott Free that would be a nice dynamic to play with.

i'm pulling for Manhunter myself. another reclamation project of sorts for Babs ala Huntress, in that she could temper her willingness to kill maybe. besides, if Kate's own title only gets the 5 more issues it's been promised (PLEASE Didio give it a longer leash than that!!!!!!!!), then i will NEED to see Kate somewhere.

I agree, Manhunter would be awesome. From a visual look, though, I have to wonder about 3 dark haired women and a redhead, though. If they are losing a blond, I'd expect them to replace her with a blond.

Maybe if they gave Speedy a decent outfit she'd be a good fit.

If if IF it were to be cancelled I say add her too. They haven't done much of s*** with Barda in the last few years though so I'd love to see more of her and Bulleteer is brand new and has barely been explored so I'd love to see that as well. Especially written by Gail who is just golden at the moment.

I've always seen the Birds as more down-to-earth, street-level characters, rather than flashy, superpowered types - they are technically a spin-off of the Bat-verse, after all.

To my mind that rules out Big Barda, Power Girl, Supergirl and Bulleteer. As for the others...:

- Grace - right kind of power level/look, athough a little too plain-clothes for me. Plus I've never been that fond of the character.

- Judomaster - IMO not a great fit with the team dynamic, simply due to being too damn obscure and esoteric. Could work, tho' - I have faith in Gail's ability to make it work.

- Hawkgirl - just about right, and the fact that she's literally a bird of prey helps. ;)

- Manhunter, Catwoman (Holly or Selina), Speedy, Phantom Lady (II or III) - very good choices, as far as I'm concerned.

I personally reckon that Hawk and Dove would be great on the team for any and all reasons (as would Huntress and/or Batwoman and/or Cassie Cain Batgirl). Hmm - I like the idea of a team with Babs, Black Canary, Hawk, Dove and Hawkgirl - a bona fide BOP team...

Anyhoo, that's just my two-pennorth - feel free to shoot it down in flames... ;)

My dislike of Gail Simone means I really don't want Manhunter on the team. But...if it gets more people to read Manhunter, and therefore keeps Andreyko writing, I'm all for it.

Sorry, I'm making assumptions! I know one 7 Soldier is going to be on established team. Lots of folks thought Guardian was on the JLA, but since he's not, Bulletteer has to be the most likely to go somewhere, don't you think?

I think the book's focus on street-level characters, as you mention, is one of its strengths and I would find it odd to all of a sudden have metas flying around and zapping people instead of hand-to-hand combat.

After reading "Who will be asked to join Oracle in her all-new Birds Of Prey?" I thought maybe the whole team could be in for an overhaul, which would really be interesting but it looks like Gail's posts on the DC boards put that to rest. Personally, I would love to read Gail writing Manhunter but if TCJohnson is on point with the analysis then that doesn't look to be the case. Foiled again.

Thanks for posting that. That most likely means that it's Judomaster or Bulleteer. Freedom Fighters just started up again so I doubt she'd jump ship that quick. I didn't realize that Bulleteer wasn't originally a DC character.

There's also the possibility that it's someone who isn't even pictured on the cover at all.

Also, what's wrong with the DC message boards? They have 7 pages of BS, Gail comes on and drops a bomb like that and then no one even responds. Not one post! Craziness. :eek:

Bulleteer is based on Bulletman and Bulletgirl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulletman_and_Bulletgirl), a backup feature to Captain Marvel when he was still being published by Fawcett Comics.

And as for the DC message boards...urgh. I only went there because somebody mentioned Gail gave a clue about the new character. That place is a mess.

The female judomaster was first in Kingdom Come, yeah. There has been a male version around for a while now who got his back broken in IC.
