According to iBook’s product listing for 2003, the trilogy will be based on the comic storyline, produced by Devil’s Due Studios for Image.
The listing for the first novel (aimed at bookstore chain buyers who may not be familiar with the property) reads:

Within our own universe lies another universe unknown to us . . . until now. This is the realm of The Micronauts—a place ruled by the tyrant Baron Karza, whose scientific marvels offer his people immortality, at the cost of their humanity. When Earthman Ryan Archer is thrown into their world, not only are things about to change, but Ryan will have much to do with it. . .
• NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED!
• The Micronauts is the latest in a recent line of highly successful toy and comic book revivals of 1970s and 1980s properties, joining Transformers, G.I. Joe, Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, Battle of the Planets, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on toy shelves and comic racks.
• Micronauts #1, distributed by Image Comics, ranked #18 in Diamond Comic Distributors’ “Top 300 Comics of June 2002,” following the #1 ranking of the new Transformers comic book series!
• Recreations of original Micronauts toy line to be released by Palisades Toys in spring 2002, with a new, updated toy line to follow in 2003.
• The biggest action figure of the 1970s, The Micronauts toy line spawned over 100 character figures, 50 vehicles, 10 playsets, and was one of the biggest toy lines of its time.
• The line continues to have a tremendous international following of fans and collectors who celebrate through multiple annual stand-alone conventions, dedicated fan web sites (http://micro-outpost.com), and thousands of dollars of merchandise traded and sold daily on auction sites like eBay.
