Whats with all the rings lately? GL obviously has a ring, and I know Flash has a ring that hides his suit. Why would they offer Clark a ring and tell him its time to get back to business? Or is that some sort of JLA thing?

That was a Green Lantern Ring.
'Get back in the game' means 'Get GL Powers'.

I like the GL ring used by Superman concept. This could be fun, until the inevitable return of his powers.

I wish Hal would have let Bruce hold onto the ring, Batman with GL powers would be the scariest ____ ever.

They did an esleworld about Batman as a green lantern, I don't remember the name though. It wasn't that great.

As good a moment as that was, I have to admit that I couldn't stop laughing after I read it. Hal telling Clark that it's time to "get back in the game" and handing him a little green ring?
It's like superhero Viagra.

Consider the GL like Jedi and need some new blood. Hal is just whoring the rings off to anyone he thinks are good candiates. :p
MUST RESIST.. damnit it's too great. But now we have the General Grievous of Lanterns coming soon to correct all these Lanterns popping up. :p

Everyone should get rings. Look how good it worked for Captain Planet. Seriously Batman wore the Green Lantern ring in an issue of Green Lantern month or two ago, or a year ago in DC time.

They ruined it and now ignore the characters!

In my opinion, Batman wouldn't accept a GL ring.
He'd probably say that it would make his job too easy and he'd get soft and reliant. Or maybe he'd say that he would get corrupted by having too much power. Something like that. He's the sort of guy who prefers to do things the old fashion way.

He only wore it for a few minutes to bring up his parents and gave it back

its stupid.
people thought it was stupid when Kyle was doing it, its stupid now that Hal's doing it.
Whatever happened to the fact that only a person with (enter adjective here) amount of willpower could use the ring? It was spoiled when the made G.Arrow use it in IdentityCrisis, cuz the guy loses willpower whenever a short skirt walks by. Theres no way he should be able to use it.
Clark would be able to use it I guess, but the fact Hal just handed him one because he wants to make his city a better place is beyond me. Why stop with him? Give one to the Metropolis Guardian. Give one to every member of the police. They wanna help too.

Well, the idea is that he's freaking Superman and that a year without him is much too long. Plus, he's obviously not happily retired, as he's still in communication with Hal and Hawkgirl(woman? I don't really read the Hawk stuff). Hal didn't give Batman a ring. He lent him his own. It was never a "welcome to the Corps" thing but a "this is what it's like, so get the ____ off my back" thing. Superman, however, is somebody that the Guardians probably have a great deal of respect for and would be willing to grant their powers to in order to help him resume his superheroics.
As far as the whole ring fetish at DC, it's really just because it's something you can wear inconspicuously and almost weightlessly and nobody's going to think much of it. Wally or Hal can wear their rings in their civilian lives all they want and nobody would think anything of it because it could just be a souvenir they picked up at Six Flags for all anybody knows. When in use, it doesn't get in the way, either. The Legion can wear their rings and not have to worry about any jet packs or anything screwing up their mobility.

To be fair, GA could barely use it and it just about killed him to fire off one arrow. That's probably about what most above average people could do. And Batman? He's willpower and a half.

Hal giving a ring to Clark is sort of a tip of the hat to the pre-Crisis Superman story that revealed that, had Krypton not exploded, the Guardians of the Universe had their eye on Kal-El as a potential future Green Lantern. How they could tell anything about the content of his character as an infant is beyond me but they ARE the Guardians of the freakin' Universe. :)

Would it make things easier to understand if I said it involved time travel? :)

This was one of my favorite parts, it took all GA had to make an arrow. I thought this got the willpower issue across really well.
