View Full Version : Green Arrow #60
This month's Green Arrow renews my faith in the DC 'verse.
SPOILERS
Infact I regret reading the internet and seeing previews of comics and being such a slave to information regarding my favorite comics because then Ollie's new "job" would have been a surprise to me.
This entire issue was excellently paced, and growth and evolution of a number of the characters in the book was really enjoyable. It's a solid jumping on point for new readers, but seriously, you need to go out and get the back issues of this title. I can't think of alot of slow issues.
It's always nice when the writer rewards the readers...and this one feels like a reward for some reason.
The art is as solid as it always is. Some don't like it, but I happen to be partial to it...

What they are doing with the South End of Star City reminded me of "No Mans Land", but I think it may be cool .....

Yeah, I thought "Wait a minute, I read this already" when they started talking about the area of Star City that was destroyed. And calling Gotham a hole seems appropriate, but Star City?
I haven't been reading GA for a while...I think the issue where Drakon blows up a bank with Roy inside was my last issue...oh wait, I picked up the fill-in with Anarky, and one issue with Zatanna on the cover...because I could no longer stand the writing or the art.
This was my first try since, and while the art has certainly improved, the writing seemed much, much, much worse than before, and it's been pretty bad since day one of WInick's run. I just can't buy Olliver Queen being a mayor and a vigilante simultaneously with that beard at all, and the things I liked best about the book—Connor Hawke, Roy Harper, Mia and GA's awkward relationship with them all—were all missing.

Exactly what I thought while reading it. Seems abit forced here though. The exposition from the two mug victims regarding a mother needing medication was clumsy and unnecessary. I guess I really don't like Winnick unless it's Barry Ween. Figured I'd give it a try again for the OYL concept. Not coming back. Doesn't hold a candle to what Busiek and Robinson are doing.
Story: 3
Art: 7 (McDaniel is a good followup to Hester though).

What he said. I could deal with the idea of Ollie as mayor, if someone more capable was writing it. As it is, I've been hanging on for months out of love for the character, but this seems like a pretty good time to jump ship.

Who is doing the art now? I admit, I haven't been impressed with the most recent arc and I'm a fan of Winick. I would be interested if there was a good artist on board and they were taking Ollie in a new direction.
