Tuesday night, IDW Editor in Chiefr Chris Ryall released a single image with the caption "A Storm is Coming - July 2006." Best bet - something Transformer related. Other than that? Ryall's not talking.
Speculation, commence.

With Unicron on the Cover it would be cool...

That's not Unicron... given that Hasbro are about to release a toy of Cybertron/Primus, my guess is that this comic will tie in with the current toy line in some way.

Is it just me, or does IDW seem to be going into OVERKILL with the Transformers stuff coming up?
Transformers Infiltration - OK, but it is selling
Beast Wars - Looks Fantastic
Dreamwave G1 Reprints - Why?
Transformers Evolutions - Worth a Look
Transformers Reprints - Why? There are many TPBs with material already
And now, ANOTHER project? I love Transformers but Good God its a bit much.

My guess is that this is just a follow on from the Infiltration story, not a new book, and the "storm is coming" refers to a full on invasion of some sorts.
Infilatration started off slowly but #2 was brilliant, and Beast Wars #1 wa sone of the best comics I've read in a long time, loved it!

It's hardly overkill when there is just ONE in-continuity series (unless they make Beast Wars fit into their new continuity, and its not like you need to read that series to understand whats going on in the main series). The rest are what if's (for fun) and reprints (for those that missed them).
I'd love to see a Beast Wars ongoing series.

well they had better do something because so far the books have been underwhelming and the covers have been subpar compared to the dreamwave books. I have been disappointed so far with the IDW transformers

two four-issue mini-series in one year, the second of which will not even be published until the second half of 2006, keeping existing trades in print and an ongoing monthly title. Yeah clearly too much TF for your mind to grasp. Go away troll.

What we know so far:
* Chris has said that Infiltration was not a seperate mini-series as many still seem to believe, but merely the title of G1's first arc.
* G1 IS an ongoing title, not a series of mini-series. Period.
* The G1 ongoing series will have 16 issues this year, like several Marvel titles do
* There will be a weekly story arc this summer after the Infultration arc
I'm betting this is G1's second arc, and likely the follow-up to Infiltration.

You can have my used copies of Brad Mick's comics to read over again then. For my money, IDW's published the only decent TF comics since Marvel's G2 run.

I agree, I'm more annoyed about the apparent need to have about 6 covers of everything though. Dreamwave messed up for me because of the constant variants for everything then IDW go and make things worse....
.... And YES I'm aware there is no NEED to buy all of them......

I'll get it.
I think it would be good if Infiltration stayed as an earth based story and they started a space opera in a second series.
It is a nice peice of art.

there needs to be an ESSENTIAL black/white TPB series, starting with the Marvel comics...

I've actually enjoyed both the first issue of Beast Wars and the Infiltration issues more than I have anything published by Dreamwave so far.
Dreamwave's G1 series had beautiful art but the story just wasn't there. Furman's moving Infiltration along slowly, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. And the first issue of Beast Wars is the best Transformers comic I've read in a very, very long time.

really? this is the first i've heard of any of that, and i follow this stuf pretty closely ~ where was this reported? (i know Ryall drops on the boards sometimes, so i'm assumeing he mentioned it, but everything i'd heard implied 'Infiltration' was a mini-series....)

Loved the focus on peripheral characters as opposed to the old stand-bys, and how he wrote the characters ~ the little scene in, IIRC #7 with Sunstreaker said more about the character than anything in 20+ years had...

I kind of compare this amount of milking the TF franchise with what's happening at Marvel with the X-Books right now.
Joe Q complains that people are buying Deadly Genesis, despite the franchise has godknows how many pointless mini-series kicking around the X-Offices. Seriously, do you really want to read about Cyclops as the Boy in the Peach from Japanese folk lore?

Apparently one of the rules of having the transformers liscense is having a pile of titles and multiple covers for each issue. Personally, I think it should be 3 lines. Total. G1, Beast Wars, and the third title should be whatever is in cartoon/toy format at the moment. And it should be one cover per issue. But hey, that's me talking crazy.

It's my opinion that any Transformer named Primus needs to transform into a Bass Guitar, not a planet.

so you have the IDW G1, Beast Wars/Evolution, and the marvel G1 reprints (which are lower priced anyways).
but i agree with 1 cover per issue, that madness needs to stop. now.

This should be the annual from IDW. Also for some Sunstreaker stories check out the Earthforce stories in the Titan UK pocket books.

He said it a few months ago, and now he's being coy about it. So I dunno what he's got planned anymore. :shrugs:
To be honest, other than G1 and BW, everything other TF series is on a wait & see basis for me. G1 is all I can really afford now that both DC and Marvel are jumping to $3 a pop, but I'm willing to splurge for Beast Wars. With comic book prices getting so out of control, it's really getting to the point with comics that I got with music. Buy indies & new releases from my favorite big names and d/l the rest.

And the next toy line after Cybertron is G1 anyway, even if they don't use IDW's new G1 designs. So that could qualify as a toy-tie-in. Sorta.

being one of the few die-hard fans of the comic books (it was marvel's transformers comic that got me started buying comics)...I have a few requests:
1. I would like to see this not be some lame-ass summer event, but some serious big time event that transfans will remember changed the comic book fom now on.
2. I would like to see don figueroa back on G1... He was a badass artist, and e.j. su's art is good, but damn, i miss don.
3. If IDW is reprinting all the marvel issues....why not grab the unpublished work from dreamwave (so those cats may just get paid) and the unpublished war within story (cuz simon furman is the writer)....so we can see those storylines all tied up.
4. Finally I am one of the weirdos that try and get all the covers...expensive, but kinda fun...cuz its not easy. ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT: why have a incentive cover that is basically on the other covers...but just given foil, or a dumb wraparound....
HERE IS MY SUGGESTION: why not let the variant cover be fan art? I am talking about serious fans with drawing talent...not some coloring book page. That way it would get the fans more involved and let some fan have his art grace the cover of a rare issue...
everyone write in and suggest that...maybe we can get IDW to have a contest to see whose art appears on a variant. I think that would be boss.
I am also excited that I had a chance to use the word "boss."

IDW is overkilling us on the covers alone
lets see
infiltration #0 8 covers
infiltration #1 10 covers
infiltration #2 7 covers
Beast Wars #1 10 covers
