Over at his Image Comics’ message board, Brian Bendis has announced that Oni’s Jamie Rich has come on board Powers as a series editor and traffic manager. After a couple of major production problems in recent issues, Bendis promisies that with the addition of Rich: “No more production mistakes. No more mistakes.”

Bendis also added that he hoped Rich’s addition to the team will help to increase the regular output of the series. As for the oddity of the Oni Press Editor in Chief working on an Image book – “Powers remains an image comic even though Jamie is editor in chief at Oni,” Bendis wrote. “Jamie remains at Oni, Powers remains at image. All is well in this big, happy comic book universe. Also Jamie will be editor on all up coming Jinxworld trades including Powers and Total Sell Out.”

Bendis also announced that his Marvel MAX series, Alias will move from the Marvel Knights offices to the regular Marvel officed, with C.B. Cebulski taking over the editorial reigns. Previously, despite it coming out under the MAX imprint, Alias was produced through the Marvel Knights offices.

”What does this mean to you the reader of Alias? Pretty much nothing,” Bendis wrote. “Gaydos, Mack, and I continue on towards the big issue 25. Starting with issue 16 the Alias story will focus more and more on Jessica’s secret past with the big reveal in issue 25. And this isn’t one of those bullshit X-Files Chris Carter fake outs. This is the big reveal. And everyone who has heard it- every single person- has gone oh my god! So I am pretty excited to reveal it.

”Look for more Bagley art in special Alias sequences as well. Alias remains a MAX book.”

I cannot describe how relieved I am to hear this. Alias is one of the best series out there, and I don't think it would be half as successfull if it attempted to be a main-stream Marvel book.

Keep it coming, Bendis.

Just recently started picking up the Powers TP's. What I thought was just a gimmick turned out to be the book I most look forward to.

What is POWERS without typos? I don't know if I can get used to that....

Will Bendis continue answering the mail or will Rich do it? Maybe they'll set up a QUEEN AND COUNTRY-type system.

I'm hoping Bendis continues with ALIAS past #25. The way it was phrased it sounded like there was a finality to it. That won't do at all. ALIAS must go on forever!

Any speculation about the "big reveal"? Maybe how Jessica left The Avengers?

Bendis will now answer letters for QUEEN AND COUNTRY, Greg Rucka will answer letters for POWERS, and, as always, Jamie will answer LETTERS TO PENTHOUSE.

It has to be a good day to be an editor when Bendis knocks at your door.

~Icewing, hopefully just the spelling mistakes will change

Why didn't the series have an editior from the get-go?

I've found that Bendis' stuff reads better in collected form, so I've only read the Alias hardcover so far. Has there been any word on a followup collection? After a good start under Quesada, Marvel's trade and hardcover schedule has become pretty inconsistent lately.

Bendis will do it all. I get enough crap for the Q&C letters column, and I don't need to get into the POWERS quagmire! :D

No fear. I don't believe in the concept of rockstar editors. The books I edit aren't about me or my creativity. I don't enter a project to put some kind of stamp on it, and as I said on the Oni board, you don't joing a winning team to change how they play. Creatively, it will be business as usual.

My advice to any future editors out there (and I've said this before)--if you do your job, no one should even know you've been there.

Rich probably just doesn't know enough 4-letter words or dick jokes to maintain the high level of quality we've come to demand from the POWERS letter col.

Actually, the main problem is I know which four letters are actually supposed to be in each word. And I tend to prefer jokes about anal. So, I may do a letters column for ALIAS.

You're my new favorite editor. Take that, Shreck!

Welcome aboard Jamie!

You do realize of course that you're obligated to answer one of those interview-type of letters Bendic always gets from dimwits trying to pump him for information on how to "make it in the business." He occasionally has let Oeming do the lettercol, so you need to do at least ONE of them...

So are you bald or balding too?
