Kenzer & Company, publishers of Knights of the Dinner Table, the Hackmaster RPG and other hit comics and games have announced that Detective Comics artist, Tommy Castillo, has painted the cover for The Travelers #20.

“Tommy’s always been a big supporter of the comic,” says Travelers creator, Tony DiGerolamo. “It’s always amazing when an artist of this much talent and magnitude puts his touches on our characters. I think it’s a great opportunity to bring some of the hardcore Batman fans into the Kenzer fold.”

The Travelers have been described as “Dungeons & Dragons meets the Three Stooges”. It centers around a group of six adventurers and their monster-fighting club. The cover is for the February 2003 issue of The Travelers and features the sexy, Barbara the Barbarian in a medieval superhero parody story called “Kingdom of Crime”.

“We just wrapped a story about a war,” explains DiGerolamo. “Refugees are flooding the kingdom and crime spirals out of control. Barbara and her friends decide they have to do something. Our heroes become sort of medieval superheroes with disastrous results. There’s also a mystery in there too. I like a nice balance of comedy and story.”

Issue #20 of The Travelers will be solicited in through Diamond Distribution for December Previews to ship in February 2003. And, as with all Kenzer products, it will be available through game distributors the same month. The cover price is $2.99 for a 26-page, self-contained, black and white story.

Looking forward to his work on Detective, but I have to say I think I am just not the target for stuff out of Kenzer.

I have no interest in RPG's or RPG based comics whatsoever. They sound like a decent group of people, but, I think, it will take more than a Castillo cover to get me reading them.
