The second printing features a new cover by Lee and Williams, and is scheduled to be in stores on November 13.
"Everything we've been doing with Batman has been with the intention of making it special and unique," said Lee. "We wanted to clearly differentiate the second printing from the first, so we added this new cover."
"As usual, DC Comics' support of direct-market retailers is second-to-none," said Kevin Halstead of Zanadu Comics in Seattle. "Even though we ordered well above our normal Batman numbers, the demand for this issue caught us by surprise. Having a second printing available in such a timely fashion will let us get it to the throngs of new readers who are looking for a copy."
"I over ordered Batman #608 expecting it to last for four weeks, but it only lasted one," said Bill Frantz of Books Galore in Erie, PA. "I'm happy as heck that DC Comics is doing a second printing!"
The second printing is available to retailers (and to readers through them) now. And look for a report from the field on response to this issue soon here at Newsarama.

Woohoo! Only my second post, and I've made it as a "first to post in this thread" poster! Booyah!....errr....*ahem*
Anyway, does anyone else think that this cover is a tad bit sweeter than that of the regular first printing? I do....not saying that the first printing cover was bad, but this one just....well, it's neat-o. I guess that's all I really have to say.
Woohoo!

I actually like the first cover. Much more dynamic and more of a super-hero feel for Batman. I like the idea of them going back to a second printing wiht a different cover. Will add to the hotness of the title but not take away from the first run.

I must say I was more excited over this book than any in the last year and I was not disappointed. This should be a great run.

Anyone who will get the second printing might as well just wait for them to collect the first few issues of the Loeb/Lee run, as they inevitably will. Or if not, the TPB.

I live in IL, and we haven't gotten the first printing yet due to a printing error!

I like that they are putting a different cover on it. That said alot of people will want the second cover and they still might be hard for people to get.

I got my copy of the first printing, but I'll still probably pick up a copy of the second printing, maybe two, so I can pass one off to a friend.

I agree with combat chuck that the 2nd printing cover is better. I would say much better. The second image has more dignity and mood to it--more of a sense that he is vigilantly watching over his city.

Holy sh!t. That is one pretty cover.
It's been years since I've bothered to get a second printing of a comic. Guess that's about to change. And anyone want to take a punt on how long it'll take for Marvel to pinch this idea? ;)

This is a great idea. I have the first cover, but will likely pick up the second one if I run across it. Very good business here as now even more people will want this book, as if the demand wasn't big enough to begin with.
By the way, I think I like the second one better too.

Great cover on the second print. It's as good as the Transformers other covers, and will likely sell a bunch!

I heard that Loeb and Lee didn't want it re-printed...they wanted to create a "hot" book.
Not the first to post but my first post :D

i think it's great that they're reprinting... not just because of the numbers game but the book was really REALLY good.
my 2 cents...

This issue was great. Personally, and to take nothing away from Misters Brubaker and Rucka, I was getting a little tired of the whole "I'm a big brooding guy" kinda thing and am looking forward to the "I'm an a$$-kicking super hero" kinda guy. That's something Batman hasn't been in YEARS.
I'm glad DC is getting it into the hands of those who may have missed it.

Kudos again to DC for doing this!
Mighty Marvel Must Haves, indeed.....Take that Bill Jemas!

$2.25 seems reasonable for a cool pin-up of Lee's Batman, especially with the new title head.

I loved issue #608, and I'm glad to see that DC is doing a second printing for the people who missed it the first time around.

I read elsewhere that Loeb & Lee didn't want a second printing too, to help make it more of a collectible. Something which seems to be working out well for Marvel.
The new cover helps, and I'll certainly pick one up b/c of it, but I wish DC honored their request.
At a convention over the weekend, Batman #608 was definitely the "hot" book with various dealers selling if for $5-$8 already!

DC doing a second printing so soon is to show they try to make sure fans are able to get a copy if they couldn't get a first printing due to demand, if not make a bit more money.
Having a second cover is a nice move on DC's part, they are not often thought of for printing many different covers.
Unless you want to include the Wildstorm imprint

Looks like it'll be a collectible anyway; it seems most stores have already sold out. What'd be a first would be if the 2nd printing also becomes a collectible.

I doubt the second printing will significantly harm the collectibility of the first. Seems most shops have already sold out. What'd be interesting would be if the 2nd printing became a collectible, too.

And now, satire...
Obviously, the people at DC Comics are ignorant jackasses who don't have a clue about how to publish comics. If they weren't so stupid, they would reprint "Batman" No. 608 as part of a Daring DC Gotta Have-It! And it would be reprinted with "Doom Patrol" No. 13 and "Dexter's Laboratory" No. 1.

Good for DC, this can only benefit everyone. Now how about that 2-page origin story!

This is the kind of thing that makes me love DC so much. No "Must-Have" gimmicks or other crap like that. Just a plain old second printing. Keep it up, guys!
By the way, great to have Newsarama back online.

This is what Marvel should do with its sellouts, too; meet the demand, but maintain collectibility.

Cool cover, looks like Batman has a bit of them man-boobies! :)

If anything, it should enhance collectibility of both, on the theory that alternate covers appeal to the "gotta have 'em both" collector market.
