The ultimate chapter in Bendis & Maleev's stellar Daredevil run really kicks it into high gear this week.

Things open up with The Kingpin, who is in the process cutting a deal with the FBI. They let him go in exchange for iron-clad proof that Matt Murdock is Daredevil. This run is providing a really great portrayl of the Kingpin of crime. Always in the shadows, half smirking- he's in control, and he knows that you know that he knows it. Reading this book I got the feeling that he could do things with prep time that would make Batman's head spin.

The truth of the matter is the Feds have no case against Kingpin, and he is forcing their hand by bringing reporter Ben Urich to witness the negotiations. Now THAT is gangsta.

Then things hop back over to Matt Murdock, who occasionally shows up in this book. He is wrestling Elektra naked. No, no. Calm down. HE'S naked.

She's back in his life to help him obtain the Murdock Papers, which is basically Kingpin's file containing Murdock's ENTIRE life- and we're talking about stuff even Murdock doesn't know here. If they can get to it before the Feds do, Daredevil just might win his Get Out of Jail Free Card.

Of course, Elektra's not the only hot chick with a vested interest in DD's future. Black Widow and the new White Tiger show up to lend a hand, too. Not to mention Milla, Murdock's wife, who magically reappeared last issue. He's the pimp without fear, ladies and gentlemen.

But that's not all- we also get a Heroes for Hire cameo, we check in on The Owl (who looks to toss a wrench into Kingpin's master plan) AND a superbly executed last page that brings back yet another character from DD's past. Can you guess who it is? HINT: HE'S ON THE COVER.

Now normally, all of this plot would take Bendis roughly 3000 pages to convey, but he's really kicked it into high gear here. You know what? I like Bendis in high gear.

Maleev's art casts the perfect tone for this book, and Bendis's dialogue was particularly sharp this episode. I'm gonna miss these dudes, but at least they're going out with a bang.

A's all around.
