For those of you unfamiliar with The Hunger, the first trade will be out in eary November and costs a mere $14.99.

Why shoud you give a f**k?

Here's a blurb from C. B. Cebulski's introduction:

Zombies. Voodoo. Vampires. The Mob. Cops. Blood. Brains. The Hunger is one of those comics that you just can’t place a finger on and classify. Jose and Chris are doing things with these familiar concepts that you’ve never seen done before. And it works! When was the last time you read a zombie story told from the perspective of the zombie? It’s an interesting point of view that you’ll not soon forget. And that’s just the top of the iceberg! Chris’s unique visual style pulls you into The Hunger and Jose strings all the different elements together so tightly that they won’t let you go. Page after page, we follow in the footsteps of Charlie Lee, once an innocent kid, now a murderous zombie, as he seeks revenge on those responsible for what’s happened to him. As he looks for those to blame for his current undead condition.

The cover looks like this:

I picked the negative option, but the only thing close to negative I have to say is that its a shame there aren't more Harris covers. I feela little guilty though, becase the others are good too.

Yeah, Tony Harris is the man. He's been my hero since high school. The cover he did for us is a dream come true. I don't know if my fanboy gonads coud withstand an entire series of Tony Harris covers yet.

Shasteen, on the other hand, aims for a completely different set of gonads, if you know what I mean.

I'm actually a very delicate flower, and all this fast times, big city talk of gonads always leaves me with more questions then answers.

It's not very much like it at all. While we do use a zombie, he is a Voodoo zombie and not one of a zombie horde - like you'd find in 28 Days Later, Night of the Living Dead, etc.

It is also in color.

If you like horror and crime comics, though, it shoud be right up your alley.

Honestly, I wasn't too interested in this book because all I heard was that it was a "zombie book," and I'm not a big zombie fan. However, I've since heard a whole lot of other stuff about it that is more interesting to me, so I can definitely see myself picking up the trade at the very least.

It's option 1 for me: continue buying single issues.

As I've written elsewhere, The Hunger is one of the few comics that evokes an actual physical reaction in me. On more than one occasion when reading it, I've actually felt a jolt. And, no, each issue does not come with a joy buzzer -- at least mine haven't.

The Hunger is a blast. I loved #4 (and the first three as well), and I really look forward to this week's #5.

Thingone - Thanks for the love and support, man. I hope you dig #5.
