I've enjoyed Allred's "X" book and wanted to read some of his other stuff. Is there a TPB reading order to Madman? I look on Amazon and other sites and don't see a list in order....

I also want to start reading "The Goon" and heard the first TPB, Volume 0, is not the actual Dark Horse stories..

Another confused person who could use some help here...

Thanks!

The Oddity Odyssey is the first Madman book. I'll check to see if I have a complete listing.

Goon Vol 0 reprints stories that were published before the Dark Horse series.

The Madman books in order and their current publishers go...

Madman: The Oddity Odyssey (Oni Press)
Madman Adventures (Oni Press)
Madman Comics Yearbook '95 (Dark Horse)
Madman Comics v2 (Dark Horse)
Madman Comics v3: The Exit of Dr. Boiffard (Dark Horse)
Madman Comics v4: Heaven & Hell (Dark Horse)
Madman King-Size Special (Oni Press)

Then there's the Madman/Superman: Hullablloo TPB that sits kind of outside the regular series. While Oddity Odyssey is first, it's also significantly different in tone from the rest of the series. I still highly recommend it, but you may want to start with Adventures to get a better feel for what Mike's doing...

You should also check out the awesome Red Rocket 7 collection by Allred. It's one of my favorite comics ever.

And if you want to get REALLY esoteric, try finding both the Dark Horse TPB of Tales of Ordinary Madness and Slave Labor's Dead Air...I've been a proud M. Dalton Allred fan since the beginning of his career, and I plan to remain so in the future. :D

I agree- Madman Adventures and Madman/Superman Hullaballoo are probably the most "new reader" friendly of the series, and the most fun.

I love this book. Tell Allred to get off his duff and make more Madman!!!!

James,

Since you're posting on here, are there any plans to either reprint the small collections of The Atomics or do any TPBs of them?
