View Full Version : Wally West's 3 Hardest Moments - SPOILERS

OMAC
10-03-2005, 08:44 AM
In Geoff Johns' The Flash run, Barry Allen returned from the future to help Wally out of a particular bad time. Wally had put his family in danger because everyone knew his identity. Barry Allen called in a favour with The Spectre to make everyone forget Wally's secret identity. He even forgot that he was The Flash himself.

Barry also said that this was the first of three times that he would return from the future to help Wally out of his hardest moments.

Those moments....

1. Zoom attacks Linda and kills Wally's unborn children. Barry calls in a favour with Hal Jordan, The Spectre.

2. Barry returns to capture Professor Zoom, who was brought back by Hunter Zolomon.

3. ??????????????????????

Now, I assume the third moment has something to do with Infinite Crisis. Or I could be missing something.

Dan DiDio recently said it wouldn't be a Crisis without a dead Flash. (Although, I missed the bit in Identity Crisis where a Flash died :p)

Discuss - theories, speculation, wild ideas, spoilers, etc.

What about Wally West gets replaced by Barry Allen? I think Wally will lose his powers and they will bring Barry back a la Hal Jordan.

"Here, let me help you with that."

"Gee thanks, Barry!"

Suppose, in IC, Linda dies and Wally has to raise his kids by himself? And Barry comes back to counsel him over that? Hm? Maybe?

Has anyone thought that maybe thats a play on words?

"It wouldn't be a Crisis without a dead Flash."

That could mean BARRY, folks. He's a dead Flash, and he still owes Wally one more appearance.

I think Didio is just teasing us, because Barry will return for one last appearance during the Crisis...

.. Barry.. dead Flash.. ;)

The Dec solicits show Wally, holding the twins, and Nightwing at a grave. The headstone doesn't say Bart's name ....

They did the same thing during Zero Hour, didn't they? Teasing Flash's death, and then they ended up bring back Jay and some other JSA'ers from Limbo or wherever they were. Or else I'm mixing up comic book events, which is possible and makes this post mostly pointless... Oh well {submit}

In the November solicits there is a cover for Flash that has been "zoomed in" which is probably the cover you have seen, but someone posted the true full art and it actually shows a grave with Linda's name on it. It was definitely not a fake. However, as posted on yet another thread, the next Flash story arc features an alternate reality. Click here (http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45007) and check out the rest of the thread.

Maybe Barry returns from being an electric lifeform
to save human kind and finally dies.

But at the end it comes always diffrent than we thought!

I'm not entirely convinced that Barry's appearance in Rogue War was the second worst day of Wally's life. The Barry that showed up to capture Zoom was from the past, moments before he killed the original Professor Zoom. I'm betting the second day will be during Infinite Crisis and the last day will be left kinda vague and will probably be Wally's death far far far in the future. I could definitely see Barry visiting Wally on his death bed to send him off or help him into the speedforce or something.

It doesn't matter if that Barry was from the past.. Barry didn't say he was gonna awaken from death to return for these three times. :p

It was the second time Barry appeared in a time of great crisis for Wally, otherwise they would have said something.

I got the jist that when he originally talked to Wally with the Spectre, that Barry had already helped out on the other two days, stopping off periodically as he travels back through time. I think if Rogue War was one of those days he would have mentioned "oh by the way, one of those days it'll be me from the past so keep schtum on the whole me dying to save the universe thing, its bad enough i know that part".

I think one of the 3 days will definitely turn out to be Infinite Crisis though, Barry did the whole nudge nudge wink wink thing with Hal saying he was on his way back to a normal life after he was done being the Spectre. And bobs your uncle look who's back from the dead and looking to play a large part in Infinite Crisis.

Barry must not have liked Batman much, he could have at least dropped him a line "psssstt Bats, by the by, we screwed with ur noggin turning you into a paranoid psycho and you just might so happen create a maniac computer system that kills and enslaves a whole bunch of people.....ya know....food for thought....balls in your court" or with Superman "hey Supes, you might wanna check those mental blocks of yours cos ya know....Max Lord....not so trust worthy"

I agree with the theory that the third time has probably already happened. Barry has shown up several times over the past few years. Maybe the third time happened during the whole Cobalt Blue ordeal when he showed up to save Wally from dozens of possesed speedsters.

I think it is pretty clear that Barry's appearance with the Spectre was the third appearance from Barry's POV, though it was the first appearance from Wally's POV. The second appearance was during the Rogue War, though this happened much earlier for Barry (Prof. Zoom was still alive at least). The third visit will occur, for Barry at least, some time before the first visit, but who knows where it will occur with regards to the second visit (if that makes any sense at all; I hate time travel).

*SPOILERS*

I don't think we can give much credence to Linda's gravestone on the cover of a future issue. As has been mentioned in another thread, this appears to be an alternate future. Vinny Pic saw a preview of this issue and was VERY pissed that Bart dies on the second page of the issue:D

Technically, Johns left the door open for the last two hardest days of Wally's life to be yet to come.

Remember, the Barry Allen that came after Professor Zoom was the one from the past to track him down, not the one coming from the future to meet his eventual demise. It could well have been Wally's #2 worst day in his life...but you would think that the Barry traveling back to meet his demise would have dropped by for some words of counsel, ya know?
