Well, I'll start a thread in support of the new format.

Godland #3 was my first issue. I didn't even bother to check out the free version online (I should be doing that now instead of writing about it, as a matter of fact!). I had heard cool things and wanted to support a guy (artist Tom Scioli) who loves comics enough to get up at 5 am to draw a few pages until 7 am when he gets ready for his 9-5 day job. Then he does some more after dinner! And he's married! And it looks great! The newsarama article where I learned this (or was it CBR?) info also convinced me to cast aside my previous prejudice towards Scioli as a Kirby clone, and instead revel in it! Why is his heavily influenced art a BAD thing and not a good thing? Anyway, issue 3 was as trippy dippy as I had hoped. While there were a few panels where the scripting or dialogue crossed the line from reverence to imitation, it was still a fun read that was worth the price of admission. So check it out- you may be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

I like it also, and was sad to hear that it is ending

Whens it ending? I hadn't heard anything about this. Why does fate want to keep me away from Joe casey books I enjoy!?

....wait... I think I was mistaken (I was thinking of the Small Gods Series)

I am so sorry

Don't frighten us! I am keeping my old Talk@ thread alive, incidently. Since it predates the change I think it has a right to a "grandfather" clause. Plus, that way people who aren't likely to know about it can still be exposed to its greatness.

Thank goodness. I love this book, and while I think it probably will go away fairly soon, I'm hoping we can get at least a cool year of big idea adventures before it kicks it.

This is a great comic. And you really have to like Crashman, America's Most Cherished Hero.

Only David Bird can start Godland threads! ;)

I really liek this book, it's ker-azy, I think I love Basil Cronus, he is the best villain of 2005, not stizzing BrotherI.

Well then, Birdman should copy that thing here!

I'll close this as a duplicate.
It served its purpose, and since I never called it "official"

Well then, again...might as well open up now that Matt is on the scene and sez comics in talk@ is groovy. Go there for David Bird's posts on Godland, come here, or start your own next issue.

Its all good.

Whattaya mean you just read 1 and 2? Weren't you the first poster crowing about Godland way back when? I was even gonna give David Bird crap about starting his Godland thread after yours when they busted me about starting this one! (Glad I didn't. After all, it isn't really time for starting crap around here, is it?)

Well, I haven't read one or two, but three was still a load of fun. So between us we endorse all three issues!

I don't think I started a thread way back when.

I may have said I planned on buying it though.

I haven't yet grooved to the whole online comics thing, so I'm gonna wait and buy #1 when I see it. If I was on the fence, I may have checked out #1 online but #3 was fun enough to add it to my pull list without needing confirmation.

Thanks for the heads up though.

What? No one talking about this?

Issue 4 was good, still don't know how long Im going to stick with this. Has that silver age goodness done modern style which is very nice(and David Bird knows I've been digging my silver age goodness), my thing is I don't know if I like anyone but that baddies.

Not the best I read this week(IC and Villains United) butbetter than other stuff.

On a related ntoe, tried Fantastic 4 essentials. Have the first three, got tired through the second volume. Not sure if I'll continue on. The Kirby arts ncie I just don't care for the characters. I did just drop 40 dollars on New Gods material.

Personally, I don't think that the FF starts to REALLY cook until after the Galactus saga in vol. 3.
The New Gods stuff is terrific, if you can get through Kirby's scripting.

Kirby's scripting in the New Gods stuff is clumsy, but the ideas crackle and it's a fun ride.

Godland vol. 1 was in Image's most recent solicits, so I'm going to be checking out this series finally. I read the first issue online preview, and I was intrigued, but not blown away. All of the good things that I've read have definitely got my curiousity up, so I can't wait for that trade!

My issue of #4 was back-ordered, so I'll get it this week. I've only read one issue, but it is a fun comic book. I'm actually a bit pumped to read #4, so that is a good sign. I usually don't mind waiting, but in this case I do.
