Best not to mention "late" and "The Walking Dead" in the same sentence -- or even the same paragraph. Judging from the TWD letters column, Kirkman gets a tad irritated when the two are related.
For the record, TWD #22 was solicited for a July 13 release, #23 for a Sept. 14 release, #24 for an Oct. 12 release, #25 for a Nov. 16 release and #26 for a Dec. 14 release.
Since it doesn't appear as if #22 will be out this coming week, it'll be at least three months late when it does surface.
As much as I love reading TWD as a monthly -- I think it consistently has the best cliffhangers among all the comics I read -- I get frustrated by the lateness, and I'll likely stop buying it as a monthly after #25, which I've already preordered.

See I just started buying it monthly with issue #19 (I bought the first 3 trades) so I never really knew that it was always getting delayed.

even though I have the trades of the first arc (started buying the singles after that) I am still getting the Walking Dead HC due out soon that will collect issues 1-25.
Can't wait.

Not soon enough!!! TWD is awesome IMO.
I can't wait to read the issue (#25?) w/the riot gear people on the cover. I can totally see Rick and Tyreese pulping undead skulls w/batons...
Anyone planning on getting MARVEL ZOMBIES? Kirkman is doing this one as well. I wasn't that interested, until I saw some of the pages posted. I'm SO there!

No doubt about that.
It's why I will only read it as a monthly. The cliffhangers are killer!

Definitely one of.
its unfortunate, but most people won't give this title a chance b/c they think:
1) it can't be that good b/c its NOT in color
2) its a horror book
:(
Kirkman did for Zombie comics what Romero did for Zombie movies, IMO...

Did any of you read the Obligatory Fight column in the latest Comic Buyers Guide? Man, one of the people on there were dissin' TWD hard. It just sounded like the dude never even read the series at all. Just thought I would mention it since it was the only time I have heard anyone say that TWD sucked. Anyways, that dude has no taste.

Can someone descibe the tone of the book. Is there any dark humour? What movie is it most like--28 Days Later?, Return of the Living Dead? Dawn of the Dead?. I'm thinking of getting that giant hardcover collection.

I'm thinking of getting that giant hardcover collection. It's not very humerous actually. It's quite dark and edgy and has a good amount of suspence. It's like a mixture of lots of the best zombie movies. At first it was very reminiscent of '28 Days Later' (a little too much so if you ask me, but Kirkman has defended that accusation many times, stating that he came up with the idea before '28 Days Later' came out), whereas now it reminds me a bit of 'Dawn of the Dead'. It's not really like any movie, which is another reason why it's so good, as it's very unique.

28 Days Later and the Walking Dead have ONE thing in common and the Resident Evil movie did the same thing. It’s one MINOR thing and after that the book goes in a much different direction. So the 'accusation's some make is nonsense IMO.
It’s a little like all of those zombie movies except better. Better, more believable characterization, but a lot of the same "internal" threats some of those movies had.
Not much humor but lots and lots of drama and huge twists (and more then a few moments that will have you muttering "____!" out loud). It's very much worth the hardcover IMO. Hell I want the hardcover and I already have the first two trades and the rest of the issues. Best book right now (be even better if it was on time ;)).

Thanks for the reply guys. I think I'm going to get it when it's out. I'm a fan of 28 Days Later, and I like zombie movies.

If anyone is a fan of zombie movies in general, TWD is for you!!!
zombie love!!!
(though actually, as i stated in another thread, i'm really just a fan of really good stories. much to Kirkman's credit that he is so good that he got me to put aside my preconceptions and become a fan of a Zombie book)
