How does this new setup stop any of that? It doesn't. What the new setup does is it makes sure that the comic related threads don't get bumped off the first page too quick with other threads.

actually a few of us are finding this all very funny.....

the same things that were told to me and some other people when it was merely suggested.....

we were told to get over it.... Newsarama changes all the time...

and then it happens to them and they can't handle it.... and frankly ---although i have had my moments i have never seen such a display of unruly ten years old that didn't get their way.....

if that offends them i am sorry but wow....

gladd to have you here..

The hypocrisy is indeed astounding..

I seriously have never, ever, seen anyone react to ANYTHING.. like these people are reacting to a god damned MESSAGE BOARD. They're acting like Matt hunted them all down, and killed each and every one of their dogs.. or something like that.. :p

oh come on remeber the time i bumped all the Austen thread ..the reaction there ....:D :D :D :D

in another thread i was mentioning how sometimes they get way to overboard in little thing that in the end won't mean all that much to the majority of the posters who enjoyed the board the way it was.....---however this is a way i think to get a whole new set of poster at this site who want to and enjoy talkiing about comics........ the board the way it was was very ...inpenatrable for newcomers

Personally, I don't like this new set-up. I feel that it is harder to navigate around here and will confuse people. Also, there's probably going to be a higher chance for DC zombies and Marvel zombies to post in here. Hopefully, Matt will change it back.

Well, JLU is a DC property..

Firestorm and Captain Atom are both DC...

And Sentry vs. Superman is for the general board, thus Talk@.

Where will the Joe Friday question thread go?

Why can't people just bump threads about comics if they "love" them so much?

...look, this isn't brain surgery here. i understand people may not like the format, but it's ONE MORE CLICK TO SEE WHAT'S IN THAT FORUM.

good Lord, you'd think that they were putting daily encryption on here -- what this does is 1) make it easier for moderators to spot/ban trolls who only want to post irritating or hateful things;

2) give people who want to talk comics -- which is something that gets lost on the boards a lot -- a specific place to go.

the only people complaining are the people who make sure they make time to derail clearly marked comics threads with politics, sex, company vs. company crap, or flat-out trolling.

it's that simple.

no, what i'm saying is that if going to a sub-forum in one click to talk about a specific company's comics is harder than going through multiple pages of threads that have topics like politics, sex, movie openings, etc. AND THEN FINDING a comics thread, then obviously our minds work differently, and we can leave it at that.

Why these are here
We’re trying something new here, as Talk@, for better or worse, has become pretty large and can occasionally get overloaded with topics not related to comics. We’ve opened up four new forums: Marvel, DC, Other Publishers, and Movies, and would appreciate you keeping discussions in those forums specifically related to their namesakes.

It’s an experiment, we’ll see if it works, if we need further subdivision, etc.

Of course, the normal rules apply, which can always be boiled down to two simple ones: 1) don’t be a dick, and 2) If you come in looking for, or looking to make trouble, prepare to be booted.

Let’s keep the hating out of the forums, and discuss to your hearts’ content.

Rock and roll.

Yep. Once in a while.. hardly as much as most people, but thats no excuse..

I don't see why it should matter if I'm involved in it or not.. for me, personally, it works out great this way. If I want to talk comics, I can use the comics forums. If I want to talk about anything in general, or random stuff.. Talk@.

Couldn't agree more, if I wanted to talk about duct tape (though why anyone would is beyond my comprehension) then I'd find a duct tape forum!! Same with favourite porn stars, opinions on NFL football, whatever else rubbish you had to trawl through on Talk@ to find anything about comics. I presumed that was why people joined a comics forum - to talk and discuss comics, not exclusively but primarily - its the reason I joined.
Now hopefully I'll be able to find the threads I'm actually interested in and joined for.

Or maybe reviews can just be eliminated.

There were a few posters who refused to post reviews in the review section because they found more people joined the discussion in Talk rather than in Review.

This has often lead to duplicate reviews in different areas.

Since reviews are wholly DC/Marvel/Indy related they would fit better in the new areas established (JLAvengers type books being a rare exception).

Even Matt in his sidebar stated that these new areas can be for discussions on specific titles. Let's take it one step further and add specific issues of specific titles.

Overall I'm not too thrilled with the new direction here - but "adopt, adapt and improve" as Dennis Moore used to say.

you bring up some good points, there tends to be very few posters in the reviews section compared to talk@. Though i wonder why more people from talk@ don't check out the reviews section? it is pretty good if you want to read about specific comics.

I check it out from time to time, but the Reviews section doesn't lend itself to interesting discussion. I don't know if the reviewers keep it too academic, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interaction, just commentary. So, the main reason I don't frequent the Reviews section is that it's just so dry.
