<blockquote>Sometimes comic book art makes you go "Whoa!" Usually, it's a wide screen shot of big brutes slugging each other through buildings. But once in a while, it's an artist's subtle touch that does the trick. Take Steve McNiven's art in MERIDIAN #36, for instance. Month after month, Steve's raised his game...and this time he takes us soaring through the sky right along with Sephie. And Steve will be the first one to say that inker Tom Simmons and colorist Morry Hollowell made it all happen...not to mention the story that Barbara Kesel gave him to draw.

So if you're ready to glide through the clouds, check out Steve's art in MERIDIAN #36 on May 28th -- and then you'll see why HeroRealm.com said "Just because the lead character is a young woman doesn't mean that only young women can read and enjoy MERIDIAN!"</blockquote>

just to echo...from panel structure and flow, anatomy, coloring, shading...I really find the artwork quite stunning. I thought the early work very good, and the improvement since is clearly noticeable

well done

I'm a newcomer to Meridian but that last issues art was the main reason I bought it so I have become a fan of Steves art. The last issue had a young guy fight off a huge piranah looking monster so that he could get off the island he was stranded on. I think that was issue #35 but whatever the case I'll sure be picking up the next issue. The art looks smoking.

I'm going to have to start reading this series huh? :D

Right now my favorite CG books are Sojourn and Scion.

In my opinion, Steve McNiven has become one of the best Crossgen artists over the past year.

He's got that rare ability to make each of the character's faces seem individualized and very real, not just the standard 'comic book' face with miscellaneous hair on top.

Fantastic work! Steve's my early choice for favorite penciller of the year in the CBG awards.

I am lucky to see Steve from time to time at my local Shop, "Strange Adventures", in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Yes, he is one of the few Crossgen guys that isn't "jailed" in Florida).

I picked up the first Meridian TPB and read it with my 7 year-old daughter who is now a big Meridian fan.

I casually mentioned to my daughter that Steve was going to be at Strange Adventures on Free Comic Book Day, and she totally freaked and begged me to take her. She got her TPB signed and Steve was also kind enough to give her an original sketch of Sephie.

It was amazing watching him work (even though he is his own worst critic). My daughter likes to draw, and she was fascinated with how a detailed (VERY detailed) sketch came together.

Great art as per usual with Steve. He has grown by leaps in bounds from his early work on the title and I know consider him on of the best artists around. His art makes me love this title, although Beeber's scripting doesn't hurt either.

You know, every time I see Steve McNiven it's a strange adventure. I wish he was jailed in Florida.

He has also improved more in three years than anyone else in comics I can think of. Great work, Mac-Niven!
