From Dreamwave
Dreamwave has provided Newsarama with a preview of it’s July debuting ongoing series Necrowar. Written by Simon (Transformers: The War Within) Furman, the series marks Furman’s first non-Transformers work for the US market in years, and also showcases the fully digital art of newcomer Adi Granov.
Dreamwave’s solicitation for the first issue of the series reads:
NECROWAR # 1
Written by Simon Furman
Digitally Rendered by Adi Granov
Synopsis: In a war without limits, against an enemy without number, a radically new breed of soldier is the only possible response. As the Dark Matter forces of the Progeny sweep through the universe, deconstructing the very stuff of space itself, five recruits step into the firing line, wrapped in living battle suits. Unknown to them, though, they've been selected not to do... but rather to die! All new, sweeping sci-fi action from Simon Furman (Transformers: The War Within) and hot new talent Adi Granov.

Oh Oh - Me, Me!
Yup - I really do fancy this.
Simon Furman's writing left a mark on me in my formative years and as far as I'm concerned he can do no wrong.
I mean if he can take a bunch of plastic toys that change into cars and tell interesting stories about and make you care about their characters he must be good. Right?
That isn't an easy job (and I think that's been adequately proven my recent attempts at writing the Transformers)
Do Dreamwave as a habit publish trades of their series? TF is the only Dreamwave series I've picked up.

Fate of the Blade will be returning, with all-new covers by Pat Lee. FotB is my personal favorite Dreamwave series and I can't wait to see the rest of the story in print <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I've become skeptical of any new DW series, having been burned in the past with early cancellations and whatnot... but Necrowar looks damn interesting. That being said, I want more Fate of the Blade, damnit!

This is good news. I'm surprised that Granov didn't get an offer to do comics sooner.

So what ever happened to Echo? I felt it had a strong story and right at the top of must read books, and then puff... it's gone.

I like the look of the battlesuits, but I do hope we get more than generic sci-fi gladiator stuff here. The fact that they don't know they are due to die adds a dramatic and promising edge for me

I've been following Adi's work for quite awhile now. I don't have the link offhand but on my website under A (on the links page) is the link to his website. He's one of the best hands down. You really have to see what he has posted on his site...it's worth every minute of your time.

"Necrowar"? By the picture, I thought it was a newer version of the Silverhawks! Bring on the green guy with the bird eyes or the gee-tar playing cowboy!

It's... It's... It's Wetworks 2099!
Seriously though, I'd buy a Silverhawks book in a heartbeat. Why hasn't anyone brought back that property?!?

I was starting to worry bout Dreamwave when it was starting to slowly get rid of every book they did that Pat Lee didn't start or wasn't licensed.
Glad to see that Fate of the Blade is still gonna be coming on strong. I really enjoy the team on the book.
And I'll second the "when are you gonna finish Echo?" noise and add the "When are you gonna finish Darkminds: Macropolis?" question to the crowd.
Can't wait to see more from Dreamwave.

So the Silverhawks are fighting Lord Zed?
which is more embarrassing, knowing about Silverhawks, or second rate Power Ranger villians?

hmmm, looks quite promising, and as i'm looking for more non-DC/Marvel/Dark Horse fare (not that i don't love 'em or am buying any less, it's now that i can start buying comics seriously again....) this seems worthy of investigation.
but one question; it says the art is purely digital, yet it looks hand-drawn, digitized, perhaps, but hand-drawn. care to explain? (yeah, i know you folks are monitoring this thread)

oh, and did i say the art looks great? it does. woof! you can see the skeleltons and muscles within the figures, the construction- (no, not literally, but rather in the 'art-school' way) is that where the digital comes in? drawn over photos/digital models? or is this guy really that good? either way, i'm a bit jealous of and very impressed by this man's skills.
