<blockquote>They say he who laughs last, laughs best, and if that's true the creators of Wolverine are going to have a big 'ole belly laugh at the expense of the Punisher and Garth Ennis early next year.

February's WOLVERINE #186 is payback time, as Wolverine seeks revenge for the brutal treatment he received at the hands of Frank Castle in PUNISHER #16 & 17, courtesy the sometimes ... okay, often ... sadistic Ennis.

<a href="http://www.newsarama.com/Marvel/WOL186002_.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.newsarama.com/Marvel/WOL186002_t.jpg" width="175" height="256" border="0" alt="Wolverine #186, page 2" hspace="2" align="left"></a>"Garth had his fun with Wolverine in the pages of PUNISHER. Frank [Tieri] wanted payback," explained WOLVERINE editor Axel Alonso. "Don't worry, it's all in good fun . . . I think."

And while Wolverine's retaliation promises to get ugly, it's going to look real pretty, as special guest-penciler Terry Dodson will illustrate the stand-alone story.

"Terry was looking to explore his sensitive side," said Alonso. "What better place than a 22-page brawl?"

WOLVERINE #186 goes on sale February 19th 2003, and retailers are reminded the Final Order Cut-off date is January 30th.</blockquote>

Newsarama Note: Dodson replaces Sean Chen, who was the artist listed to draw the issue in Marvel’s original solicitation.

I am of the opinion that this is actually a pretty even match-up.

um, i could be wrong, but isn't Logan smoking and isn't that a no-no at the new Marvel?

Well, it sure looks like it.
And I sure like it!
I hope Marvel decided to dump that decision.

Always nice to see Terry Dodson's artwork! What with a fill-in here, and another on Daredevil he's getting thru the page count pretty good.

Be even nicer to see his pencils on Black Cat #'s 4 & 5, anybody else out there remember that book?, it's up there for artistic value with Beethoven and his 'Unfinished Symphony!'

anyone want to clue me in as to what exactly wolverine endured at the hands of ennis in punisher?

I can't be arsed to read something that Ennis writes in three minutes. Ennis and Dillon are having a grand time.. they make double the money and work one fifth the time that they had to on Preacher or Hellblazer.

I'm glad to see a Might Marvel Cross-Over like this one. The whole concept seems to have been concocted in a spirit of fun.

I'm looking forward to this.

Oh, and a stroke of inspiration from Tieri for setting the fight of Marvel's two grittiest characters in a toy store. Nice touch.

Had Wolvie's face and testicles shot off before running him over with a steam roller.

STONEGOLD, I am feeling way to lazy to dig out the issue, but I believe that it was a one-shot issue.

Nah, it's definitely a "to be continued."
Now, if it'll ever be finished or not...

Are you serious? Smoking is forbidden in Marvel Comics Magazines? Oh boy... So many brainless ways to be noticed!
