You may not have heard the name Greg Tocchini, but get ready to be blown away, because CrossGen has discovered another rising star. After pitching in on a number of fill-in issues, Greg now steps into the spotlight, penciling the five-issue R.A.SALVATORE'S DEMONWARS: EYE FOR AN EYE miniseries.
Reviewing issue #1, TheFourthRail.com's Randy Lander raves:
"The artwork impressed me quite a bit. Greg Tocchini is a new name to me, but it's one I'll be looking for in the future. His design for the elaborate Arabian clothes and backdrops is impressive, but it's in the action sequences where he really shines. The double-page splash of Andacanaver soaring out a window after arrogantly challenging a talented warrior is terrific, and the fast-paced and exciting martial arts and attempted assassination by Ketsuo are a lot of fun to watch. I'm always impressed by an artist who can convey so much movement on the
static page."
And if you're wondering how the story matches up to the art, let Randy once again take it away:
"Scott Ciencin has delivered a wonderfully accessible new miniseries...Two of the characters carry over from DEMONWARS: TRIAL BY FIRE, but the setting, the conflict, and much of the cast is all new, making it as good a jumping-on point...Though I enjoyed the first DEMONWARS story, it is EYE FOR AN EYE that has really grabbed my attention. It has an intriguing cast of characters, a well-realized setting, and just enough recognizable elements to make any fantasy fan feel at home."
All those wishing to join the adventure and lose themselves in an exotic land of harems, assassins, and demonic djinns can pick up DEMONWARS: EYE FOR AN EYE #1 (by writers R.A. Salvatore & Scott Ciencin, penciler Greg Tocchini, inker Jon Holdredge, and colorist Tad Ehrlich) on May 7th. Also on sale the same day is the Traveler-sized DEMONWARS: TRIAL BY FIRE graphic novel (by writers R.A. Salvatore & Scott Ciencin, artist Ron Wagner, and colorist Caesar Rodriguez).
