The special will feature nine eight page stories, and marks the first time writers other than Faerber have tackled the characters.

As for how he landed the uber-busy Johns for a story

I was living in LA last year, and I'd frequently hang out with Geoff Johns,” Faerber said. “When I mentioned that I was thinking of doing a Noble Causes one-shot that featured stories by guest creators, Geoff said he wanted in -- and that he had dibs on Rusty. I think it was the very next day; he had his story already outlined - in his head, at least -- I remember him telling me about it in great detail. He also told me that he had this artist he wanted to use. This guy he met at a Con, or who sent him samples through the mail -- I forget how he discovered Brent, but he told me to trust him. I asked to see samples, and Geoff said he'd try and hook me up.

”Well, those samples never materialized, and I started getting nervous -- what if this guy wasn't any good, you know? I should've done what Geoff asked, and trusted him. Because while I never saw actual samples, the Rusty pages eventually came in, and as you can see, they're fantastic. I feel privileged to have published Brent McKee's first work -- and I know it's not going to be his last.”

As Johns told Newsarama previously, the story focuses on Rusty – the post-op Rusty, that is.

“Rusty, one of the Noble's sons, was in a horrible fight -- and the only way to save his life was to but his brain in a robotic body,” Johns said. “So this story takes place a few days after the news about Rusty's new body breaks -- and a newsreporter is ragging on the Noble Family and calling Rusty a monster. So Rusty goes looking for the newsreporter -- to take out his frustrations on him.”

Back to Faerber:

“The rest of the book is filled with the following creative teams, telling these stories:

”Find out what drove Gaia to leave the magical realm she called home in order to become a super-hero on Earth. By Mike (Three Days in Europe) Hawthorne and me.

”Seeking some time away from her famous family, Zephyr discovers that sometimes the most perfect person you can talk to is someone willing to pretend you're not really you. By Eric Stephenson and Todd (Young Justice) Nauck

”Get a sneak peak at Image's new super-hero/medical series, STAT and learn its surprise connection to the Noble family. By Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning (Legion) and Anthony Williams

”Zephyr thinks it’s time for Liz to get on with her life and start dating again, and has even gone to the trouble of fixing her up with an eligible bachelor. But what if Liz isn’t ready to start dating again? Or, even more scary, what if she is...? By Brian K. (Y - The Last Man) Vaughan and Mitchell Breitweiser

”Gaia is forced to admit an awful truth to her children when Frost first shows his face during a family dinner. By J. (Sidekicks) Torres and Tim (Batman: Gotham Adventures) Levins

”Doc reflects on happier times, when he taught a very impetuous teenaged Race an important lesson about crime-fighting ... and life. By Phil (Firebreather, Green Arrow) Hester and Sean Murphy

”Race and Krennick’s first meeting is chronicled, as Doc Noble launches an assault on Draconis’ underworld. There, the two young sons are introduced to their destinies, and a legacy of hate. By John Layman and Pat Quinn

”The life of a tabloid photographer is hard enough, but what's it like when the subjects have super-powers? Ripped from today's trashiest headlines! -- By Gail (Agent X) Simone and Andres Ponce.”

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!

Can't wait for more Nobel Causes, whether Faerber is actually writing it or not!!!

If you aren't reading this title, at least give this one shot a try. If it's anything like the first twominis, you won't be disappointed.

This comic is badass. For some strange reason I always wanted to check it out, and when I finally grabbed the trade a few weeks back I was not disappointed. Great characters, awesome plot twists, intense action, super art and storytelling, it's what makes a great comic great. I hunger for more on these characters and it's great to see so many people in the industry taking a shot at it in this one-shot. This book is basically like days of our lives, or all my children only with super-powered people. I tend to dig a lot of comics like this for some reason. Maybe it's for the same reason I have shunned "reality" tv. I want to see something I have never seen before and wether it's a super powered family and their trials and tribulations, or super powered firefighters, or a super powered danish fighting in breakfastland, I just want super heroes in at least some of my comics. It seems to be that a book can't be cool, or the next big thing if it has powers in it. Pshhaw! Pick up Noble Causes, it's a truly great comic.

Looks like a great book, and you can't go wrong by reteaming Eric Stephenson and Todd Nauck. NEWMEN was such a cool book...

And J Torres and Tim Levins should work together more often, too.

Noble Causes is, hands down, my favorite superhero title currently running. I just wish we got it on a more regular basis.

Faerber's crafted a classic superhero saga that satisfies on all levels. It's retro without being dull and traditional without being predictable.

And now, Johns is involved... it just keeps getting better an better. I can't figure out why Geoff Johns isn't considered "hot" by today's hype machine. The man's a workhorse and he's consistent, two qualities that don't seem to be true of most of the flavors of the week.

Jay, Geoff, if you guys are reading this... keep up the good work and reaffirming my faith in superhero comics.

How does this title compare with other titles Faerber has written?

Noble Causes is about 5 billion times better than his New Warriors. I almost didn't but it because of that series... glad that I sucked it up and did tho!

Hey,this looks swell....And it's great to see a new artist whose not trying to draw in some half assed grafitti/manga hybrid.

I've never posted on these boards before but read them all the time. After reading so many posts about Noble Causes, I decided to give the book a try.
I have to say that I felt cheated. Noble Cause was okay, but it wasn't much better then Titans or New Warriors. The characters were unoriginal and the story was totally predictable.
I just wanted to post on here, not out of hate or anger, but to just let others know out there that are reading all the great comment above, that this book is not everything that people are saying. Not everyone likes it. It is exactly like a soap opera (which I know is the point)and the characters never seem real to me. Very one dimensional.
My advice, if you are thinking about picking this book up, is to try to read some of it at your comic shop before you buy it. I wish I had.
That said, the Geoff Johns pages look excellent. In three pages he puts more character into Rusty then Jay has in the entire series.

Rather than reading the book in the store, anyone who's curious about Noble Causes can read the first issue of the first mini-series for free, in its entirety, on the Image website:

Some people like it, some people don't, but regardless, everyone should buy it. ;o) hehe

Just kidding. I do think everyone should give the book a chance. No reason to discourage people from trying the book.

I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on this book once it's out. The goulash of talent made this an amazing book. I really enjoyed it. I was privileged to be able to work on it.

Talk about two great tastes that taste great together.

This looks like it is going to be great. I love the characters and world that Jay Faerber created, and now add the golden touch of Geoff Johns, and you've got a book that is going to have "MUST READ" written all over it.

I guess you can say I'm really looking forward to checking this book out.

Good job, Brent. I guess all those art lessons I gave you are finally paying off. Just kidding, homeslice.

Looks good, and the colors really bring it to life. I look forward to picking this up.

Goldeneye rematch: August 2003.

Be there...

I OWN you!!!!
