Damn, those are some nice pencils. But there is just something about Crossgen's coloring, except for Sojourn every single C-gen book looks the same. Crossgen just rubs me the wrong way, but I will check this book, like many, just for Perez.

George Perez could be illustrating the phone book and I would still buy it! He's that damn good.

Coloring the same way is an overall direction most likely coming from the top brass and art directors. It's no different then having penciler clones or the like. They continue to have a consistent line of books in all aspects. I think that far outweighs the fact that they all "look the same". Think of it as art direction and style.

However you are right about Sojourn being one of the better colored books. I personally liked how the Path was colored more subdued. It's on the opposite side of the spectrum however coloring well doesn't just mean doing it in one style.

I have never, ever bought a CrossGen book before. Solus will be my first. Huge Perez fan (still praying for George to take just one more crack at the Titans!) and I like Barbara Kesel's work, too. The preview was beautiful--and much appreciated as I'd forgotten it was coming out this week. I'll make sure to buy a copy ASAP.

here is one i will have to check out. although in many ways perez in new to me, he already has a place in my pickup list cause he's just so damn good. i first incountered him with avengers with kurt busiek a few years ago and i quickly founnd myself rummaging through old cheap bins for classic works of his.

I don't know what excites me more - the fact that a new Perez book is being released tomorrow, the fact that he's doing a story with Barbara Kesel, or the assumption that one of the characters in the preview image is Charon from The Negation.

I think I'll grab two copies of this. Three, maybe.

He is a great creator. I first read his name in the Deathlok series and the Sons of Tiger. Wow, high tech stories of the 70s and martial arts comics.

He should teach most of the new wanna be ones!!

Who remembers Sons of Tigers? Were there many books about them?

It is a happy happy day when I know that a new first issue awaits me at the comic shop, and it is by my absolute favorite comic artist.

Not much on Crossgen either, as the only CG stories I have picked up were the ones done by Mr. Perez., but I haven't had any trouble following along.

Greg

My personal Perez favorites from the 70's remain the Avengers and Man-Wolf.

Always nice to see George draw a book, whether it's an ongoing series or a limited project. I hope that after reading this book, people will give some of the other CG books a try and realize that some of this stuff isn't bad at all.

Needless to say I've added Solus to my monthly list... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
