<blockquote>Creative studio, Blue Water Productions, announces the latest in a continuing line of titles, published by Alias Enterprises, to be sold-out at the distributor!

Among the titles: THE LEGEND OF ISIS #1 (By Ryan Scott Ottney & Rod Fontana), TENTH MUSE #2 (By Darren G. Davis & Alex Amezcua), JUDO GIRL #2 (by Terrance Griep & Nadir Balan), THE LEGEND OF ISIS: BEGINNINGS trade paperback (by Davis & Ottney), and TENTH MUSE: THE ODYSSEY trade paperback (by Davis & Ottney)!

THE LEGEND OF ISIS #1 not only sold out at the distributor, but was also the highest selling book for Alias in the month of May!

“The response has been great, not only to my books or other Blue Water titles, but to Alias as a whole! They produce a great lineup of diverse genres and topics, and I know that we’re very happy to a part of what they do,” said ISIS writer, Ryan Scott Ottney.

Beginning in the pages of September’s THE LEGEND OF ISIS #6, artist Rove – formerly of Penny Farthing’s title, DECOY – joins the team!

“The script has been really great to work on,” said Rove. “I've never worked from this style of script and it allows for a lot of freedom in storytelling. I'm hoping to bring an element of realism and drama to the story of Isis. She's a really strong, smart female character that deserves to be taken seriously.”

These latest books continue a growing trend by the studio, joining the debut issues of both TENTH MUSE and JUDO GIRL, which also sold out at the distributor last May! In all Blue Water Productions has sold out seven of their 11 books released in the months between January and July since joining Alias Enterprises.

Because of the success of Blue Water Productions and its Managing Editor, Darren G. Davis, Alias has ordered a second wave of titles from the studio, including VICTORIA’S SECRET SERVICE; THE BLACKBEARD LEGACY, and an all-new TENTH MUSE spin-off, called THE MUSE, featuring a teenaged Morgan Sonnet.

Isis is a pretty good book...I originally picked it up thinking it was a revival of the 70s TV show, but it's been a pretty good read, enough for me to continue getting it, and I'm not usually a buyer of this style of book. I even branched out into a couple other of their series like Judo Girl & Tenth Muse.
The art though is too cartoony for my tastes- whatever happened to plain old good art? Why does everyone have to have cartoon faces and jumbo feet?!
And the "NEW" costume is NOT an improvement on the old one- give her back the mini-dress!
Storyline is good, but at times the writing is sloppy- scenes shift with jarring cuts, and the backstory is not always filled in enough.
Same problem with Judo Girl- for a series set in the 1960s, the dialog is full of current slang, and for the writer's information- constantly referencing 60S personalities is not the same as period setting. People then no more dropped the name of the Beatles or Bob Dylan in every sentance anymore than people today say Green Day or U2 all the time! Watch the Austin Powers films for the best way to do 60S dialog. Roy Thomas used to do that all the time in AllStar Squadron to invoke a 40s flavor, but it soon becomes REALLY annoying!
All in all though, the IsIs book is one I'll be picking up for awhile.

Geez, with that kind of review, why would you? I tried both Judo Girl & Isis. I couldn't get into them. But I wish the company well and I'll try out their other titles.

TENTH MUSE #1 sold 4945 copies, and JUDO GIRL #1 sold 3605 copies. Alternatively, that same month, SUPERMAN/BATMAN only sold 3359, TEEN TITANS #23 sold 1873, and ULTIMATES 2 #5 sold 1499.

The next month, LEGEND OF ISIS #1 sold 5706, while that same month BATMAN #640 sold only 3912.

So giving you the benefit of the doubt, you were only off by an average of 4990 copies.

While those numbers may not be in the double-digit-thousands, they're still very impressive for a new publisher with mostly unknown creators and characters.

Well, I'd certainly hope that new comics can outsell last month's mainstream reorders...

Congrats Ryan, Blue Water, and Alias. I'm enjoying Tenth Muse a good deal and once I can get my hands on a copy of Isis, I'll be reading that.

I was gonna ask about that, isn't Superman/Batman supposed to be one of DC's best selling books right now?

Not taking anything anyway from Blue Water, good look to 'em, and anyone else who's striking out on their own, (and before anyone starts I'm far from anti the Big 2, just happy to see more people playing in the sandbox :) )

It's funny to think he actually thought 10th Muse sold more than Superman/Batman. That's commitment to your dream!
