So you knew she would, the question was when. www.natalieportman.com has posted a scan from <i>Time</i> of (you guessed it) Natalie Portman sans hair as Evey Hammond for Warner Brothers’ upcoming <i>V for Vendetta</i> based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.
Yesterday is was confirmed that Hugo (<i>The Matrix Trilogy</i> Weaving has replaced James Purefoy as the title character, V.

I'm excited to see this movie!
And Natalie Portman is such a good actress, and beautiful at that.

Wow! I am really hoping that we finally get a film based on an Alan Moore book that is true to the original source material.
We should NEVER see Hugo Weaving's face at all, given the punch line of the story is based around the fact that we don't get to see who is behind V's mask.
Although for fun, I wouldn't mind seeing folks photoshop the sequence in the comic where Evey imagines who is behind the mask (ala somethingawful.com). The sequence could include the original Annikan Skywalker from the Vader unmasking in Return of the Jedi. Jean Reno as Leon the Professional. Hugo Weaving from Presilla Queen of the Dessert.

YES! YOU GO GIRL!
Seriously, cool move that she went all out instead of just wearing a bald wig thingy.

I have more doubts than hopes but it's wait and see at this point. ;)

If it's possible, I think she may be even hotter with her head shaved. Damn!

I love bald women and I love Natalie Portman so my opinion on this should be rather obvious. :P

I'm glad that Natalie Portman looks so much like Evey. She's got a bit more flesh than the original character but as long as the movie is true to the book, I have no problems.
I totally agree that Hugo's face should never be seen. It should be kept within the mask at all times to accentuate the everyman quality of the script.

Wow @ spoilers in the thread. Does vB Code not offer a "spoiler" tag here...?

Mentioning that V was the one who shaved Evie's hair, as Philip A Moore did, is a HUGE-ass spoiler.
I'd also say that mentioning how we never do discover who was behind the mask is also spoilerish...but not quite as bad as that whopper above.

I hope they get this right. V is one of the few comics that transcends the genre and is legitimate "art" as literature.
