<blockquote>Blue Water Productions announces the recent addition of an all-new series, titled VICTORIA'S SECRET SERVICE, debuting at this summer's San Diego Comic Con, and kicking off with publisher Alias Enterprises in Fall 2005! To further excite matters, Blue Water has already optioned film rights and a toy line based on the upcoming series!

Created by Darren G. Davis and Brooklyn Weaver, VICTORIA'S SECRET SERVICE centers on a young American girl who finds out she's been selected to join an elite, clandestine organization - which was formed by Queen Victoria during her reign over the English Empire, and exists today as an international organization.

Producer Jeannie Bendel has hit the ground running - optioning the latest Blue Water creation and signing a first-look producing deal with Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment.

"Jeannie has a great eye for up and coming writers and properties, and the VSS property will be a great start to her producing career, I look forward to helping package this with a writer and set up with a buyer," commented Weaver.

Bendel had already been tracking Davis' upcoming titles after querying him last year about his "LEGEND OF ISIS" property, which just last September was optioned to Paramount & Grammnet with Ali Russell penning.

"I am extremely thrilled to work on 'Victoria's Secret Service' and
develop it into a screenplay. It has a great premise for a adventurous and exciting movie," said Bendel.

Adding to the excitement, toy company Shocker Toys - who just last month announced an upcoming line of Blue Water figures - have just announced an upcoming line of SHOCKINI toys based on Davis & Weaver's newest creation.

"This has all been very exciting for me," said Davis. "Brooklyn has played a big part in helping us option ISIS and TENTH MUSE to film studios, and now it's really great that he and I can do something like this together. We're both looking forward to the comic, film, and toys, and we hope to see even more announcements like this one in the near future."

That was my first thoguht. Whether or not they'd win such a suit, I can't imagine that it will be long before we'll be discussing this inevitable lawsuit in Newsarama!

I'll admit that I know nothing whatsoever about copyright and trademark law (or whatever), but I don't see how this name could possibly be legal.

The title of the book, Victoria's Secret Service, attracts attention to itself solely because it contains the name of a famous lingerie store. (I don't think anyone would give the book a second glance if it was called Jennifer's Secret Service, or Betty's Secret Service.) Therefore, it seems to be directly profiting from another company's trademark.

(Like I said, I know nothing about law. But from my layman's point of view, it sure seems like they're using someone else's name to attract attention to themselves.)

Sigh, what a disappointment... I clicked on the link expecting to see a comic that had something to do with 'Victoria's Secret Catalogue'.:(

Yeah that names gonna fly...

It's actually very clever- but they need to hire a new entertainment attorney. But it's always nice to see another girl spy team join Danger Girl, Charlie's Angels and, of course, B.A.B.E. FORCE.

See ya all at Wizard World LA!

Yikes... while reading the article I was thinking, "Woah... this is such a good idea I wish I thought of it!" But then reading the comments it was kind of a bummer, but only because it's possibly true. :(

Good luck with the series and I hope things go well with such a catchy title (yes, I too thought it was going to be lingere models fighting from the initial name/article name).

Bah!
A Victoria's secret catalog, er I mean comic, without Tyra, Gisselle, or Adrianna!?!
Blasphemy!

I think Alias was able to cover their butts by stating that the name, Victoria, means Queen Victoria, 19th century English monarch, & not the lingerie catalog (but it is a nice play on words).

Frankly, it would have been a lot better idea if they HAD gotten together with Victoria's Secret to do a comic about spy chicks in lingerie.

I don't know about that. You couldn't do a BUGS' BUNNIES SERVICES referring to Bugsy Siegel without WB suing your butt off over a BUGS BUNNY TM violation. VICTORIA'S SECRET is TM so I assume they will sue.

I do not think they will have any problems with the name. If they do it should quickly be resolved.

As an FYI the company I am with, Southern Island, will be making the 6-8 inch figures based on the series. If you have any suggestions visit the link in my signature.
