A+ all around

This movie is what both Matrix sequels should have been: intelligent, literate, emotionally resonant, and just gorgeous to look at. The story, which picks up Batou's story down the road from the loss of the Major, is sorrowful, full of longing for lost love and eroding humanity.

The real winner here is the balanced combination of hand-drawn and 3D computer animation, the latter of which is the finest example I have ever seen. Beautifully muted sepia tones and hard contrasting night scenes combine into a post-modern blur of dystopian future. Check it out - you'll be glad.
