With issue seven, Proof finally gets to cut loose and smash someone. But if he crosses the line from man to animal, can he go back? No matter how well he dresses, he was never a man.

What the heck is this book about? lol, I've seen Grecian pimp this in quite a few threads and forums now.

Bigfoot is real. He's extremely intelligent. He's also an animal, so he can get scary, like an animal. He works for the government and... ____, it's hard to sum up. I will say that Alex is building an interesting, well thought out X-Files like story here. When I say X-Files, I mean that there is a lot going on and much of it isn't conventional.
Frankly, if this book can get through the first year and grow a bit more of a readership I think it will be truly something special.

I've been reading Proof since the beginning, and I gotta say this is one of my favorite books every month. Alex and Riley bust their butts to get it out on time, and have never failed. Riley has a unique style and conveys emotion and action really well. Alex's writing is great, and the series throws in many curves. Just a great read.

Wizard interviews the Proof creative team about #7 and the direction of the series. If you still don't know much about Proof, this covers all the bases. Riley and I had a blast! Check it out...

OK, last night I read issues #6 and #7 and really liked this book. I wish I would have picked this up sooner so maybe I would have been a little more shocked by some of the events in #7....
SPOILERS
It was great to see Proof go ape-____ (for a lack of better terms) on the poachers. I am curious to see how this animal side comes out at times and how he can control those urges (maybe a little full-moon, mating season action will kick in at some point and we will see if Proof can starts to hump Ginger's leg).
I am also curious to figure out what is going on with the Lodge and did they sell Proof out? ...and why? Lots of little story lines starting to develop here. Then there is Autumn - wow, what is her motivation? Is she just a disgruntled about not working in the field or is there something more?
END OF SPOLIERS
I wil be grabbing the trade to catch up on the first five issues. This is a great series and I really like the creative team. Riley's art is a pefect compliment to the story and I hope that Fiona stays on the book with colors (I know she has the Jack Hamksmoor thing mini) because it all comes together to work perfectly. Looking forward to issue #8 and finding out who really is the main course after all is said and done.

Sorry I can not wait any longer to talk about issue 7.
****SPOILERS BELOW****
1. Dover Demon telling "Little Dog" he would be dead by Tuesday. Excellent...had to read it a couple times to actually make the connection between litle dog and Dachsaund.
2. Autumn Song?!?! God I hope she turns out not to be what she looks like she is. I like her.
3. Ginger and Elvis dealing with the "baby" dinosaur was just great. I had expected something more like "Dino" size, but the predicament of dealing with much larger "baby" is a good twist.
4. Missed the back matter, but loved being able to see some of Riley's revisions. It seems like everyone of them made the book, and look better. Love the fact that he doesn't just phone it in, but is putting out some great stuff. Seeing how he revised the pages, and still got it out on time shows how dedicated to the book he and how great an artist he is.
5. Fiona Staples colors. Just terrific. Wish she could stay, but I'm sure the next colorist will be good too.
6. Alex'swriting and character development is always great, and this issue was another example of that.
7. The cliffhanger ending! I didn't expect to see that!! I loved the conversation between Ginger and Elvis about the gunshots, leading up to that. I hope Proof gets to kick the crud out of that little dude with the glasses!.
That's all for now.
(and Alex if you see this I did it again, but with edits this time)

Meanwhile, this summer's Monster Pile-Up book gives a little taste of Proof's past in a five-page story called "Manifest Destiny." The comic is just $1.99 and features all-new stories from the regular creative teams of Astounding Wolf-Man, Firebreather, Perhapanauts and, of course, Proof.

It's always cool walking into Another Dimension Comics (here in Calgary) and seeing Riley scribbling away on an issue like 3 or 4 months down the road, I got him to sign my copy of #1, next time I go in I might bring #'s 2-7 and see if i can get him to sign those aswell
I wonder if they'll make a distinction between the sasquatch and the yeti's, or just treat them as the same thing, I always thought of them as different things, very similar things but they are know to live in very different climates and such.
Proof should cross over with Kirkman's Walking Dead at some point it seem's like it'd be a good match, and make for a lot of fun

I suggest you take another look at issue four, in which I refer to the American Kennel Club's assessment of the dachshund (here, I mean the breed of dog) as "remarkably clever and couragous."
You seem to have dogs and ex-miltary big game hunters of German descent mixed up. One is called wiener, the other Werner. ;)

FYI: Seven Sons was really cool, it is the GN from SIT/Planetar that Grecian and Rissmo did prior to Proof. It was a neat take on an old familiar fairy/folk tale. Rissmo's art has greatly improved since that early work and Grecian is a more accomplished storyteller now, but it is well worth seeking out.

Rissmo's art has greatly improved since that early work and Grecian is a more accomplished storyteller now, but it is well worth seeking out.
I will have to give that a try. I actually just was able to pick up the first 5 issues of PROOF last week but have not had a chance to read them yet (hopefully this weekend I will free up the time). Anyone who is not picking up PROOF this week is going to get a vist from me and my friend bigfoot - understand?

This is the official countdown to Issue Eight http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Unfortunately we have to wait an extra day next week due to a silly holiday. Sure I am glad for an extra day off of work, and I look forward to the Indy 500 (born and raised a few miles from the track so it just one of of those things that you either get or don't), and I will get to spend more time with family and friends but at what cost? An extra day to wait for PROOF - I am not sure it is worth it http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/images/smiles/icon_confused.gif
We all know what the next book is about but as a reminder, here is the solicitation information....
PROOF #8
Written by Alex Grecian, art and cover by Riley Rossmo.
"Company of Men," part three. Will Ginger reach Proof in time to prevent him from being dinner? Of course she will. But another Lodge agent bows out for good this issue.
32 pages, $2.99, in stores on May 29.

That is what I like to hear - another fine individual that have come to their senses and seen the light... seriously though, I believe you will find this to be one of the most creative books on the market. Great writing and daring art come together to make a smart, fun book that you won't want to put down.
Let us all know what you think once you read the trade. It is also not to late to jump in on the current arc. Many LCS still have issue #6 and #7 in stores now and #8 comes out this week.

Alex & Riley - OK, issue eight has been purchased, transported, and read... I have four words to say "I hate you guys". I swear the book is only 10 pages long because I find myself needing more when I get to the end.
****SPOILERS & DISCUSSION****
Speaking of gettng to the end - nice hiding Autumn in the airport at the very end. I always flip back there to look at the next issue and was pleasantly surprised.
Love how Proof handled the Colonel - nice to see our hero is not above doing what should be done because it is morally questionable. Also I am happy to know that he is not a tighty-whitey kinda guy. That might have ruined the book for me. The team seems to be pulling together here and Ginger seems to be fond of her new partner after trying to shoot him on the first meeting. Riding the dinosaur was a great touch as well. It was also great to see Demon getting so many speaking parts - even if I need Yoda to translate what he is saying. Though he did talk about fairies eating the flesh off of somebody and we all know that when Demon talks he knows something http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif
I didn't realize that i needed to buy two issue though to be able to enjoy the great mask on the back http://www.imagecomics.com/messageboard/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif you guys seem to be having a lot of fun with all that you do in this book.
Totally unrelated to anything - I loved the pinup and the color job. I seriously looked at that and thought I would love to see part of an issue drawn like this (maybe a dream sequence) but it was just wimsicle and fun. I might just contact that little girl to draw art for one of my ideas (we all think we can be writers you know).
Overall = great job guys. I am still for the long haul because I have PROOF.
Kelley - Archie is a great add on to the book. I enjoy getting through Proof, looking at the back cover, reading letters and other stuff and taking a 5 minute break to go back and see what Archie has going on. I really feel like I am getting 2 comics for one and I hope you guys find ways to keep him in the mix or making apperances in the future.
****END of SPOILERS & DISCUSSION****
Do yourself a favor and pickup issues #6 thru #8. It is a great arc to get started and you will not regret it. I challenge you to buy this book, or the upcoming trade and not feel like you got more than your money's worth. What is the worse thing you are out? A few bucks? Seriously you can buy a great book with incredible art cheaper than a gallon of gas.... do yourself a favor and check it out.

#8 was awesome by the way, I love what they did to the german guy (i'm not even going to attempt at remembering how to spell his name)
Alex... Question... Would an international covert consortium that polices crytids really be concerned about whether or not their arrest would hold up in court? My guess is spooks don't care.
