the Land pages actually aren't thattttt bad here. Thank god its not the whoel book and just a few pages. and thank god there aren't many females in the flashbacks. the o-faces are actually appropriate for once in the sentinel image.

If it doesn't turn out that Trauma faked his death by showing Thor Girl her worst fear, then I'm going to be pissed.

Love that page with Taskmaster and Dragon Lord's family. So badass :D

I know the point of Hank Pym's Skrull infiltration is still up in the air, but if the Pym that's in A:TI has beena Skrull since issue #1, I wonder if this is the same Skrull or he in fact was killed by KIA and this is a new one taking his place. Either way, I don't want Hank dead anytime soon.

Can't wait to see what the Scarlet Spiders will do without Van or Constrictor's role in the Initiative after having his arms removed. Nighthawk's in the recap page, so I hope Slott continues their friendship he started in his Thing series.

Well, he got both hands cut off so I doubt it. He may come back with robot hands or something.

Anyway, next week looks great and three Matt Fraction comics so I am happy.

wow. in a few of those panels, Land's Xavier looks like Patrick Stewart, and then someone completely different.

Then the last panel of Exodus is OBVIOUSLY Patrick Stewart. I wouldn't mind all of the tracing if people kept the same facial features. Sheesh.

Black Tarantula should have his own series.

He's a modern day Robin Hood, crossed with a Zorro, minus the Danny Kaye.

That is just a great opening.

Technically, disappointment would be if he'd set up that Trauma'd be dead and then taken it back, same way as he did with Pym (although the whole SI thing's making this tricky). What he did to you wasn't disappointing, it was upsetting.

Or maybe this is the moment Hank was replaced. Or maybe he was replaced the last time he pulled this "subatomic" thing. We may never know.

Wow. New Avengers actually looks interesting for once. I still won't get it, though, because I need to save cash to buy all those upcoming tasty Final Crisis tie-ins! :) Also, shouldn't we learn how the Skrulls infiltrated Earth in Secret Invasion, not a tie-in book?

Thor looks good. DD/Black Tarantula looks good. Avengers: The Initiative looks as awesome as always. Let's see where this goes. I sure hope Constrictor gets new arms, as he's become a D-List favorite of mine thanks to Slott.

EDIT: How could I forget to praise the wondrous works of Matt Fraction with Iron Fist and The Order (so sad to see ya go, kids) and, of course, Mike Carey's X-Men (I just wish the plot would speed up so I can decide whether to drop it now and wait for the trade or to keep reading). Go Matt & Ed! Go Mike! Woop!

As long as the main points of the infiltration are bullet pointed in the main SI book, I'm OK with the nuts and bolts being found in Avengers. Really, this is one event that seems to warrant 8 issues for the "here and now" portion of the story. It would probably really clutter things up to try to cram in as much detail as Bendis is going to show in Mighty and New.

Matt Fraction is the best comics writer to emerge in years. I'll bet the next time Comics Should Be Good does its top 100 runs in a few years, he'll have four or five runs up there.

Zeke Stane is already the best new Marvel villain in quite some time, and that's mainly just from the previews!

My wallet's got quite an adventure coming this week.

Legacy continues to rock, too.

Two things:

1) Is the Thor Ages of Thunder thing a one shot or a mini-series? I had heard one shot first, then that it was a three-issue mini and re-solicited for May, then this says it's a one shot again and coming out next week. Can someone please clarify for me? I'm going to get it regardless, but I want to know so I can be looking out for more issues if they are indeed coming.

2) What the hell is up with the art on Iron Fist? For months we've had inconsistent artwork, with the David Aja stuff slowing seeping away until last issue did not have any of his art. I had hoped that meant we would get a full issue of Aja's art for the conclusion of this story (and no more of the endless flashbacks) but now I see that not only does Aja not draw any of this issue either, it's again broken up into several artists.

I'm still going to get it, because I want to see how the story ends, but man, that's irritating. Honestly, when I heard the news about Fraction/Brubaker leaving, it sucked for me not because I would be missing what they are currently doing, but that the potential for future cool stories by them disappeared. Truth be told, while this current storyline has potential and some great moments, it has been all over the place, with delays, flashbacks, two fill-in one-shots (that were admittedly, great) and the aforementioned inconsistent art of varying quality. The whole thing's just kind of gone on a bit too long and, as a result, it doesn't really break my heart too much for a new creative team to come on board.

Man the Thor one-shot looks awesome. And I'm looking forward to reading Iron Fist. Though this arc has been drawn out a little it still has been an excellent read.

Not sure if I want to read Iron Fist after Brubaker/Fraction. But I will give it a try.

Which New Avengers have you been reading? The last issue had Echo, Wolverine, and Clint Barton. This is one of the only issues i can remember that hasn't centered on a member of the Avengers. Plus, this is only 8 pages in.

Edit: Oh, you haven't been reading it. Right. Maybe that's why you're not seeing any Avengers.

My understand is that it's three one-shots, each with a different title; so the next one will be "Thor: ______", not Ages of Thunder #2.

Not enjoying that new Initiative art, but I'm glad they waited until the end of Year One before going with it (I really wish they could make up their minds about Taskmaster's mask -- when he was first introduced, it was an actual skull, and the teeth were actual teeth glued on the mask itself... now the mask is like a sheet of tissue with the teeth barely drawn on with a pencil or something.)

Who was the original artist on this book? I miss him. The original artist and colors were an awesome combination and it's a shame we couldn't keep them together. Nonetheless, Initiative will continue to be a cool book from what I can see.

And Matt Fraction already IS the next big thing. Other guys are already sucking up to him big time in those Marvel interview pages. He's going to have a lot of pull very soon, and everyone at the office knows it. ;)

And i considered that, but shrugged it off as being stupid. It's been a few years. Time to accept change.

It's now three one-shots, only the first of which is called "Ages of Thunder". I forget what the other two are called - go back and look through the NYCC stuff.

Well, the solicit says that they lose a Skrull in an unexpected way. Maybe the Trauma or Thor Girl that got taken down was a Skrull.

That Av: Initiative preview was pretty cool. I remember Yu from Eden's Trail and got a kick out of his work. I probably won't buy it, but it looks good.

I really wish Marvel would put Cheung on a steady monthly title after Secret Invasion. I want to see him on a regular basis and it feels like we aren't going to get that until Young Avengers comes back.

The Order. I'm gonna miss that book. I really hope most of the team survives, because they're great new characters.

I agree that some of the artist changes (esp in Iron Fist and Initiative) take away some of the magic, but on the whole-- what an incredibly strong showing from Marvel this week! These are some of their best books, and they really speak well of the cohesiveness of vision Marvel is FINALLY displaying after so long. I've spent so much time being disappointed by Marvel's judgement, I'm glad to finally be impressed by what they're offering. As for Trauma, i get the sense he's one of Slott's favorites too, so I'm not gonna write him off just yet. During Skrull season, anything's possible.

I just don't understand why so many people liked Trauma so much. Personally, I didn't give a flyin' monkey turd about Trauma. I don't object to any collateral damage inflicted by the KIA arc at all. It was an entertaining arc, deaths and all. #12 looks pretty good too. I'm not a big Steve Uy fan, but the book can do a lot worse. If he stays on as the go-to fill-in artist, I'm okay with that.

Having read the advanced copy of the Thor story in my shop, I love it. Art is superb, and the script is a very humble and beautiful rendition of classic Thor Mythology. Excellent work...

The only complaint I have is the format. This is the beginning, the next part of the story will be a differently titled one-shot, followed by another... Bad form Marvel. Bad form.

Still, that is the only complaint I have on the book.

The rest looks pretty decent, Avengers is quickly becoming the must read book of the summer, and the skrulls are finally getting their due thanks to the scribe that is Bendis. I love the preview pages of this book and wish that we would have gotten a copy in the shop, but it is well worth waiting for. Only complaint on that title is that my customers will be reading it first and ruining the story for me, LOL... Part and parcel of the job. Good job this week Marvel.

Stefano Caselli, the original artist on the Avengers: The Initiative title is still the ongoing artist. Stefano and colorist Daniele Rudoni are coming back with issue 14. Steve Uy is the guest artist and has been their standard fill in artist, having used him previously in issue 6 and now in 12 and 13 for the regular art team to catch up.

As for Taskmaster, neither Steve Uy or Stefano Caselli are responsible for his shifting appearance, originally he clearly has a cloth mask on with the skull drawn on, when drawn by George Perez. As time has gone on some draw it more like a real skull, some like a cloth mask, but like most characters who've been around for as long as he has, they have more than one interpretation of their classic looks around to choose from as a basis.
