Do not give Alex Ross any of your money

Come to the spin off thread, we're doing a spotlight on Jeff Smith's new series RASL. It'll be awesome

Even if you're not buying RASL, there are loads of great books this week, including Kick Ass, Criminal and X-Men Legacy, so pop by and tell us what you think

Once again, just say no to Alex Ross

RASL #1
by Jeff Smith
Jeff Smith, the visionary writer and artist behind the epic fantasy Bone and Shazam: Monster Society of Evil, unveils his newest series, the stark sci-fi series, Rasl! Meet Rasl, an art thief searching for his next big score — and trying to escape his past! Where other thieves plan their heists with breathtaking precision, Rasl has an ace up his sleeve — he can travel through the light between dimensions, affording him access to museums that no ordinary thief could access! In this issue Rasl faces an assassin’s bullet and stumbles across a mystery that not only threatens to expose his own illicit activities, but could also uncover one of the world’s most dangerous and sought after secrets. Smith’s first major independent work since the critically acclaimed and award-winning Bone will be 32 pages long. | B&W | $3.50

Spotlight books are not to be confused with the weekly Review Group selections. Spotlights occur only on those special occasions where enough people have expressed an interest in reviewing an additional book. You can suggest a spotlight in this thread at any time, but make sure it's for a book that deserves the extra attention.

Sitting at the bottom of a pile of about 40 other comics. :p

At least I finally brought it in the house last night. I left it in my car for 5 days because I am so excited to read it.

It really isn't.

We at least gave honest reviews of it, we just don't think Ross needs more sales on this.

IN all due respect punchy, I don't think you could give an honest review of project superpowers. Basically because a week before the book comes out, your telling people you were going to skip the book and people shouldn't read it. And then your review is very short and you gave the book a 4. At the end of the day your review is very biased and all you can focus on is your hate for Ross.

Sentry/Void at least gave an honest and not biased review. He was able to stand back and leave the hate for a second to actually focus on the book.

And Yoni hates a lot of things so his review wasn't really surprising.

I gave an honest review.

It wasn't a rant, I said I didn't hate it, which I didn't, but it was boring, which gives it a 4. It certainly rates higher than Marvels (a 3/10), Kingdom Come (a 3/10) and Justice (a 2/10).

If I had been given into bias, I would have given it a 2 or something, 4 is very nearly a 5, which is an average, acceptable book.

You review was good, all your reviews are good. It just seemed like Punchy and Guitar instead of skipping the week let their hatred towards a creator step in the way of reviewing the book intelligently.

Yes it was a mediocre book, but at least see it for the proper things not get blinded by hating alex ross.

The first book was ok.. it was a slow read and the art did not particularly grab me either. I bought #1 but have not had a chance to read it. I think most new titles start slow so I do not immediately thumb 'em up or down. But I think after the third issues whatever works or doesnot should be ironed out.
