Of that list, Lark is my favorite, but I think Epting had the best year.

David Aja. His sense of motion in his work is astounding. No one can draw an action scen quite like this guy.

Epting drew the most widely publicized and purchased comic in a decade, so how can it not be him?

If you're picking John Cassady, chances are you're really picking Laura Martin.

Because people bought it to see Cap get shot, not because of Epting's art? Not saying he's not a great artist, but he's not what moved Cap #25.

Jim Chueng is the right answer.
Honorable mention: Mark Bagley.

Yeah, no kidding, but what exactly does that have to do with my point?

Agreed. His covers are great.
I'd be interested to see what he could do with a sequential page.

John Cassaday combined his incredible talent to one of the year's best titles. So I'll go with him.

I had to vote for Cho!!
His artwork on Mighty Avengers is f*cking incredible (WOMEN!!!), but the book itself is miles below Astonishing X-Men. So, Cassaday it is.

David Aja
his work on Iron Fist is just amazing, some call it Lark-lite, but it's got it's own flair that makes it just incredible

Bachalo for interiors. His run on X-Men and his MC issues are amazing. This guy gets better and better.

Frank Cho's work on Mighty Avengers is stunning.
i think that Stefano Caselli and Daniele Rudoni (working as a team on Avengers: the Initiative) were the breakout Marvel talent of the year.

Did Cho do his best work this year for Marvel? Maybe not. But I'm biased towards him so he gets my vote.
Cassady and Coipel get mentions.

Jae Lee produced the work of his already amazing career, and it came out on time. Certainly, Isonove makes his art even better, but just from the pencils and inks alone, Lee wins, as anyone who read The Dark Tower can hopefully attest to.
Cho, Cassaday, Coipel, and Yu (for remaining timely) also had great years.

Epting's work on Cap was perfect for the series, he blew me away with each issue and he (IMO) keeps getting better and better!
Cassaday was my runner up with honourable mention to Lark.

David Aja has astounded this year. I think he's even better than Cassaday (my old fave).
Also Epting, Lark and Cheung get honourable mentions too for being awesome.

His point is that sales shouldn't have anything to do with artist of the year -- quality of the art should. You said Epting should win for drawing the highest selling and publicized comic in a decade. Liefeld drew X-Force which sold a million copies. By your guidelines, he should have been the artist of the year.
None of this is to say that Epting isn't awesome, but he shouldn't be artist of the year solely (or even largely) because he drew Cap #25 and it sold well/got a lot of publicity.

Artists that put out like 4 issues a year shouldn't even be considered for this. Im looking at Cassady, Cho, Cheung, Coipel, etc.
Bagley put out top notch work every 3 or 4 weeks and completed his entire Mighty Avengers arc before Cho could do a single issue.
Epting does Cap every month (with the exception of the small break after the death that had nothing to do with him) and it looks incredible.
Coipel has put out like 4 issues in 7 months or so. It looks pretty, but not that much better than the other artists that are on time. Same deal with Cassady.
David Aja and Lark shouldn't have been left off this list. Both are incredible artists that put their books out on time.
I'm not trying to tell you who to like, but be fair to other artists if you are picking a 'Best of the year" type thing. Cheung is one of my favourites, but aside from Illuminati, which took 12 months for 3 or 4 issues, he wasn't exactly involved in anything this year outside of covers whereas other artists I've mentioned are equally as talented and manage to make their deadlines or, in the case of Bags, put out more content than a printing press.
Team Djurdjevic. Then Aja, then Lark. Everyone else is either bad or inconsistent. Deodato gets a nod as well.

I see where you're coming from, but the issue is more complex than that. Both Cassaday and Coipel have put out more than 4 issues this year, BTW. Also, you may not mean it to come off like this, but the artists you mentioned with lesser output aren't working any less hard than Bags -- some talents can put in as many hours as more "productive" artists, and still only put out a fraction of the issue numbers. Additionally, some of the artists you mentioned are inking themselves, whereas some, like Bagley, are not. Finally, yes, Epting and Aja's books are more timely than some other artist's titles, but Epting was only doing 1/2 issues for most of the year, and had a big gap between Cap #25 & 26, and Aja hasn't done very many full issues either.
So I get where you're coming from, and your opinion is as valid as anyone else's, but don't overlook some of the facts in favor of the ones that make your case.

I personally voted Epting.
And as far as Bagley is concerned I would not put him at the list of the best artist of 2007,but I most certainly put him at the top of the list of artists with most stellar tenure at Marvel ever.
