I don't understand. Is this for General Spider-Man discussion, or just discussion of this new book? Or neither?

This is basically for the book and our favorite things about and the best of Spidey. You know, before Quesada destroyed him when Civil War started.

Yes on all counts.

We're also here to set the record straight if fans find something in the book they want to add or discuss. A book like this continues to evolve--for example, Marvel and Sony have already added a bunch of licensees for the Spectacular Spider-Man animated series coming in March.

Now there's a surprise: a Batman fan who hates Spidey. What a shocker.

You just assume that because I have a Batman sig and avatar? I don't hate Spidey. I love Spidey, but I hate the way Quesada has been taking him since Civil War. But Steve, you can't possibly like what he's doing to your character?

From the outset, Spidey has remained popular with the readers because of his transitory nature. This is the key to his success, and each successive team has put its own stamp on the character. Restarting the series certainly won't do any harm. (In fact, sales will likely increase with the new schedule.) The continuity changes provide artists and writers with new territory to explore.

But 20 years of history have been erased and we've already had a single Peter. Quesada only did this because he didn't like the marriage, which is completely selfish. Steve, please. You have to see how wrong this is. :(

The main advantage Spidey has is that he'll outlast anything we don't like. We've survived the departure of Steve Ditko, the wedding of Aunt May and Doc Ock, the Spidermobile, the Clone Saga, and more. So if sales dip because of what has happened recently, you can bet there'll be another wave of change, and another after that.

*Chiming in* I Love batman, I liked spiderman. I don't see why liking one would have an effect on liking the other. It's like chocolate and garlic. Both great, I like them for very different reasons and while I may not like them together I can't say that my enjoyment of one prevents me from enjoying the other. Batman's garlic by the way.
