So, why are we back to Kyle Rayner's old look? You know the one I'm talking about.
When Kyle showed up, a lot of people didn't like him. Some say it was because he didn't have the ability to overcome great fear. Some say it was because he embodied the spirit of 90's comics by being the "new for the sake of new" GL. I say it was because he had some stupid green-mecha-crabshell on his face. Seriously, that is the ONLY reason I hated Kyle Rayner. And in recent years, they wised up. They gave him a cool uniform, and got rid of that retarded face-shield thing. I was happy, and I finally saw why all the writers worked so hard to keep Kyle.
And now? Back to the 40 pound weight on his face. Seriously, what practical applications could it have? Why did we bring it back? Did anyone miss it?
DC, please get rid of the stupid Kyle Rayner mask. It's a small thing to correct, and it will save me many aneurysms in the future.

His costume is made to signify that he's returned to his roots as a Green Lantern, but that he's also changed through Ion & Parallax. Besides, why is his mask any more useful than the mask used by Hal Jordan, or Guy Gardner's jacket? It's all in the style, man. If Kyle thinks it looks cool, he uses it.

The Hal Jordan mask is just to protect his secret identity on earth, for all the standard reasons. Kyle's does that too, I suppose, but his has the secondary effect of being ugly and stupid.
And Kyle thinks that looks cool? No wonder everyone hated him. He should use that power ring to summon up a mirror.

That mask is pretty horrible. Bad times...

I think DD said somewhere that it was back because it was "recognizable".

Same here. And I really never understood the "it's a weight on his face" thing, since ring constructs are probably only as heavy as you make them. It also appears to provide more protection for his nose and eyes than a standard GL domino mask.
That said, if you want to hate on it because you don't like how it looks, I'm not going to debate you on it.

It also seems to have been streamlined a little bit. At least it looks that way the way Ivan Reis draws it.

Yep. When people see that mask, they know it's Kyle.

I like it. Kyle is my favorite GL, and that's his classic look.

Forget the mask, I can live with that if the rest of the outfit works.
This one does not. It's very bland, almost like a training uniform. It's not appealing from a design aspect in any way, shape, or form.

i love the mask.. but i think it looks to bulky alone.. he should have arm and leg guards with it like he did in his original costume and paralax costume.. but i think it looks cool.. the rest of his costume i hate cause there is nothing creative about it... its soranik natus uniform only for men... his costume before ion was great... kyle is supposed to be the most creative so why is he using the boring costume everybody uses with the bulky mask.. think up something els cooler kyle!

I don't have a problem with his mask, but the rest of the costume is really uninspired. Oh well, it's not like it'll stick. This is his third costume change since Rebirth.

I'm with the people who like the mask but not the rest. I'm not saying the costume should be flashy, but something more catchy. Maybe there should be touches of yellow in it to symbolize his Parallax changes.

I'm perfectly fine with the mask. I even kind of like it. It's the rest of his original costume that sucked donkeys. Kyle has just had very bad luck with costumes. The current costume isn't perfect, but it's probably the best he's had, imo.

This was by far his best.

Am I the only person who likes Kyle's mask? It's different, distinct, and sets him apart from the other GLs.

But that suit looks too vaguely militaristic for an artist, imo, and the collar is an odd choice.

...and the weird things on his knees, and the dumb things going down his arms, etc., etc...
I do like that version of the chest logo, though.

His redesign has grown on me. It blends the elements from his first two costumes and the traditional uniform nicely. And yes, I never liked the Jim Lee redesign a whole lot, either.

I like his current (old i guess) costume. But the sega genesis controller mask has got to go. I think he would look sharp with the current gear and no mask of any kind.

I think Darryl Banks was trying to riff on the old Sunfire design with the big, elaborate mask when he was designing Kyle's first uniform.
The problem with the current suit is that it's kind of like a hodge-podge of the different suits he's worn in the past. It's a "costume cocktail" with a whole bunch of pieces that don't necessarily work together.

the reason i liked that uniform is cause it was very different from the rest of the lanterns and thats more or less kyles thing... plus the unique lantern symbols on the shoulders and chest were also cool.... i also liked that he no longer had white in his uniform... till i noticed the dumb stripe
