<i>Press Release</i>
<blockquote>The Harvey Awards, the most prestigious prize of
the comics industry, will be given out at the Third Annual MoCCA Art Festival in New York on Saturday, June 26. The ballots must be returned by June 1, 2004, in order to be counted and certified.
This year, a record 23 publishers have been nominated, from Aardvark-Vanheim to Top Shelf Productions, with DC Comics, Pantheon Books, Marvel Comics, Nickelodeon Magazine, Chicago Review Press, Dark Horse Comics, Fantagraphics Books, Drawn & Quarterly and many more.
Voting for the Harvey Awards is open to anyone in the working professional comics community. Comics professionals who have not received a ballot in the mail can request one by contacting Paul McSpadden at ballots@harveyawards.org or by calling the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art at 212-254-3511. It is also possible to download a ballot online at (http://www.harveyawards.org/downloads.html.)
All printing for the ballots and mailing was generously donated by Brenner Printing (http://www.brennerprinting.com/comic.index.html).
Several sponsorship levels are currently available for the 2004 Harvey Award banquet, in addition to individual seats to the banquet. MoCCA and the Harvey Awards are non-profit, all-volunteer organizations and all sponsorships are completely tax deductible. This year’s awards dinner will feature New York Times best-selling author Neil Gaiman (Sandman: Endless Nights, Stardust, American Gods, Neverwhere) as keynote speaker, and Staten Island’s own Evan Dorkin (Milk and Cheese, Dork) as emcee.
Special thanks to Douglas Barre and Matt Powers for official verification and fact checking.</blockquote>
