Press Release

Artist Daniel Brereton will debut his new book "Nocturnals Volume One; Black Planet & Other Stories" at a special event Saturday September 29 at Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff, 2980 Treat Boulevard in Concord CA. The signing event will run from1pm-4pm.

Brereton will also be signing and discussing his work on Marvel Comics’ Immortal Iron Fist Annual, due to be in stores on Wednesday September 26.

He is noted for his work on a variety of projects, including Legends of the World’s Finest: Superman & Batman, Thrillkiller: Batgirl & Supergirl for DC Comics, The Black Terror for Eclipse, and Giantkiller for Image Comics. With the Nocturnals’ series, Brereton has created a series that deftly melds the genres of horror and crime noir.

"When it came to deciding where I wanted to debut the Nocturnals’
hardcover, Flying Colors Comics was my first choice. After all, my career in comics started when I was a regular comic book buyer at Flying Colors."

Nocturnals: Black Planet & Other Stories, published under the Olympian Publishing banner, a subsidiary of art nouveau publisher Century Guild, features the first Nocturnals’ series, originally published by Malibu/Bravura in 1995, along with other stories, art and scripts. The deluxe hardcover edition is being offered at a $29.99 retail price, far below the price of hardcovers of similar attention to detail.

The first 50 people to buy a copy of Nocturnals: Black Planet & Other Stories at Flying Colors Comics during the signing event will receive a free copy of Immortal iron Fist Annual with painted art by Brereton.

More information and interviews with Brereton and Olympain publisher Tom Negovan can be found at http://FlyingColorsComics.com.

I hadn't even heard that Iron Fist was coming out w/an annual, much less by Dan Brereton, until now!!!

Awesome, I love the new IF book plus Dan's artwork is a win-win situation for me! :D

The art goes back and forth between Dan and Howard Chaykin, with Dan handling the chores of a pulp hero style adventurer Iron Fist. The cover is also by Brereton. It's incredibly well done, and you should run, not walk, to your shop on Wednesday to get it.

As for the new hardcover, I've seen a copy, and it is one of the nicest hardcover packages I've seen in a while, with a lot of nice little touches. The price point is ridiculously good for the quality, and the original stuff in there is worth the price of admission alone.
