I somehow have a feeling that all the little projects Powell has been working on is great and all for the creator, i wish him the best success, but feel The Goon has fading from spotlight because of it.

The Goon has been on hiatus while he finished the Chinatown GN, it is finished and Goon should be coming out closer to it's quarterly schedule once again.

Powell said on the Dark Horse message board that Goon is going monthly beginning January 2008.

Really? That's awesome. The reason I only read the trades is the slowness of the monthly.

Wasn't Powell also in the hospital recently?

If he was, he looked really good at Baltimore Comicon.

He was a cool guy. :)

He is a cool guy! I believe he'll make a trip up to Seattle next year for ECCC. Can't wait.

Hey, guys, I don't know if it's really been discussed on the board yet but we will be taking the Goon monthly for a year in 2008. I've been juggling other projects along with the Goon since the series began, but after taking the last year to work on Chinatown I thought it would be a good time to focus just on the Goon series for a while. What's even bigger news is that the creative team of one will now be a creative team of two. Dave Stewart will be coming on board as colorist. I'm really excited about this. It's going to give me more time to focus on the black and white art and have one of the best colorists in the business embellishing it. Dave is coloring the Action comics run I'm finishing up now and after seeing what he's done with that... seeing him take on the Goon... CAN'T WAIT!

Great news. I had considered switching to trades, but I don't think I can hold out. I'll pick this up again monthly whenever it starts.

I considered it recently (to move to trades) but as I have 1-19, I would really hate to drop it. Why didn't he just make China Town a story arc within the ongoing series?

IIRC, it was said that he wanted to do it seperate so that he could deliver the entire story at once so that the reader can get the full effect of it. Or something like that. I'm so anxious for things to pick back up in November that its borderline obsessive.

great campaign logo by the way, i used to read the old h.p. lovecraft comics.

anyway, thats good to hear, but i was hoping story arcs like china town are also present in the ongoing series, as sometimes i think the continuity is a little broken.

Just curious, but how do you feel that the continuity is broken?

I don't think the continuity is broken, but it does jump around alot, that is what makes the fancy pants editions so cool.

I can't wait to see Chinatown. I think once that cat's out of the bag Powell's going to be able to move forward with The Goon vs Priest story further along.

I think the thefourthman hit it, but i still think it messes with the continuity a little... i don't blame it on Powell as much as I think it's a medium issue. maybe i should just grab the trades, they may flow a little better for me.

Yeah, you don't want the trades, you want Fancy Pants, vol. 1 came a=out like two years ago, good luck with that one, vol 2 comes in Jan.
