Anybody else notice Tobias whale and Atomic skull cameo in the last issue of Action comics?

i did. made mention of it in the Action spoiler threads.

i've loved ol' Tobias ever since i was introduced to him back in the classic Batman & the Outsiders days...wish he got more play in the DCU.

Kurt has cameod him twice now i think,

In camelot falls, in that possible future, and now doing business with the Calculator on the UNternet:)

I really do hope grant uses that in final crisis.(well, he did say it to kurt!!!)

Hey Chap, do you think Tobias would make a good rogue for Nightwing? After all, Nightwing could sure use some additional rogues and I can see Tobias getting major play off of that.

he could, but at this point he's just a fill-in for Blockbuster. sort of a "meet the new kingpin, same as the old kingpin" type of deal. if Dick continues fighting that kind of crime, i wouldn't mind seeing it just b/c i'm a Whale mark, but truthfully i'd rather see Dick get out and face a bit more meta-powered/sci-fi/crazy ghost-type/offbeat threats than straight mob/organized crime stuff for a while.



and Grievous, no, Atomic Skull has never really done much for me.

i'd be down for most of those. Deathwing i could take a pass on, and Calculator seems a bit of an ill fit for Dick, but i could definitely see the rest.

I've never even heard of Tobias Whale, but I love his look! They should use him more.

Black Lightning's arch-foe from back in the original 70s Isabella days. also played a fairly big part (if only for an issue or two) in the origin of Halo in Batman and the Outsiders back in the 80s.

Tobias' Elektra was Cyanide correct? At one point I could have sworn I saw a guy in that outfit...anyone confirm?

Syonide, but yeah. the original (in BL) was a guy, second one (in BATO) was female.

That if BL appears in other media (TV, movies, etc.), he gets a royalty payment.

Whale was originally the villain in the JLU episode "Double Date" but he was changed into a new character, Steven Mandragora.

Is that the reason for Black Vulcan? I always wondered why they'd create a new character so similar to one they already had. How'd Isabella arrange a deal like that?

Yeah. Yhey were gonna use him too but they decided the royalties were to high. Isabella got back at them by having a scam aartist named Hannah Barbera in Black Lightning.
