Writer: John Ney Rieber
Artist: John Cassaday

Concept:

Captain America deals with the post-911 situation.

As much as people like to say the Cap. MK run was horrible, this first story arc is amazing. Great writing put together with great art.

I'm not going to lie - I picked up this book because of John Cassaday. After reading it though, I have to say its probably my favorite Captain America story ever.

It starts off with Steve Rogers picking through the rubble at ground zero, which, thanks to Cassaday's gritty realism is just amazing and surreal.

The story progressed from there with more of the political Cap. we've come to know from the MK line.. as much as people say the MK run sucked, if they would've kept the quality like it was on this arc, it would've been a runaway success.

Final Grade: A-

Isnt this the book that pushes Cap WAAAAAAAAAAY to the left (instead of in the middle as he is intended, representing both sides of America conservative and liberal) and more or less said 911 was America's fault?

That just sounds wrong to me.

Eh, depends on your look at things. I really enjoyed this story line, even used it as evidence that comics should be viewed as literature in an essay I wrote, and I'm fairly conservative. But I really enjoyed those issues, because it delt with what we considered 'terrorist'. Are they camel riding, turbin wearing fanatics in the Middle East? Are they Eastern European? Hm? If I can find that essay, I'll see if I can post some of the ideas that I put into it. Any-hoo I enjoyed it, while I really didnt agree with some of what was being projected.

Cap wasnt too much to the left as much was the story being told.

DR, are there any 'special features' included in the trade?

the first 3 issues were excellent, but after that it got kinda bland. Beautiful covers, however, with some even nicer looking interiors.

i did get tired of the second person view though.

No Foo, there are no special features...

but it still rocks just the same..

And to whoever said that it puts the blame for 911 on America... I think you're reading too far into your little conspiracy theories there.
