"Lost Cargo" Part 2 of 2
The second half to Legends of the Dark Knight entering "normal" continuity with the other Bat-books is a really solid tale of Catwoman and Matches Malone. I've always been a fan of Devin Grayson and her Catwoman is excellent here. Batman's manipulations to help save the day, yet also subtly build the reputation of Matches Malone in the underworld is very interesting. Matches is portrayed like a charcter from the Soprano's that every one has heard of, but no one really knows other than that "he's been around for long while."
The Mafia characters are handled adequetly, but the real treat here is the Catwoman/Matches "team up." This is a really unique dynamic as they both try to unravel the mystery. Of course Catwoman has no idea Matches is really Batman and just takes him as a distraction initially, but as they're respective searches continue the dual points of view make for a fun ride. The idea that Batwoman would sanction Catwoman to operate the East End is welcome as well following the events in Hush.
The art is a little dark, but then, so is Batman. Not every arc has to be as colorful as Hush. It's an easy read and a very entertaining two parter. I've always enjoyed Legends and am pleased to see the inclusion into regular continuity doesn't interfere in it's ablilty to tell some solid Batman stories.
