I was always interested in this book, but I was a little young "back in the day" when it first started. Can someone fill me in on the basic concept? Solar: Man of the atom for that matter too?

Nexus is Horatio Hellpop, the son of a disgraced planetary chancellor.

He was empowered by the Merk, last of an Alien race to hunt down and kill Human mass murderers. He is driven to do this by dreams of the suffering each mass murderer has caused. The only way to stop the dreams is to eliminate the malfactor causing them.
His powers are flight, telepathy and energy projection.

His home base is the dead moon Ylum. Nexus has taken refugees from the many worlds he has visited to live there. Yulm is now a large community with its own independant government.

The Merk has recently left Ylum taking the tormenting dreams but leaving his power intact. He's also just had a child with his long time girlfriend Sundra.

That's more or less about it.

One of the best comics to come out in the 80s. Still one of the best today too.
This link could help you NEXUS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_%28comics%29)
If you can afford them, the Dark Horse collections are worth it. But you may want to try a few random issues. If you like them, you can start from the beginning and get any answers you'd need from those few. Just suggesting.

Steve Rude is an awesome talent and as co-creator with the great Mike Baron - illustrates the book. There was a dark time in which he didn't - but Paul Smith and other talents stood in for the 'Dude'.

Anyhow, Nexus is a quirky, yet compelling book. Really, give it a try. Issue #100 is ready for ordering, #101, and issue #99 has hit stores.

Cool stuff.
