Writer: Garth Ennis
Art: Carlos Ezquerra
Publisher: Black Bull Entertainment

I picked this trade up yesterday after hearing alot of praise about from a friend. I'm glad I did. It's simply amazing. I'm dead serious, you guys should all pick this up.

The Concept:
Its 8 or so years after the 'end of the world'. A global catastrophe of epic proportions. The much theorized burn out of the sun swallowed up Mercury and Venus, and destroyed everything on Earth except for a small number of humans. The event, called 'The Burn', dried up all the oceans and turned the Earth into a barren wasteland. (Think Mad Max)

The story revolves around a group of people, survivors of the Burn, who are on a voyage to the supposed last source of water on the world. Along the way, they meet an enigmatic figure called 'The Pilgrim' who saves them from a group of pirates.

The story progresses from there...

I have to say guys.. this is really great post-apocalyptic stuff here! The writing rocks, as usual from Ennis.. and the art by Carlos Ezquerra is very fitting for the book.

Writing: A+
Art: B+

Final Grade: A

Wow I forgot about this series, I got the single issues when they first were published. I'll have to dig them up and read them again.

Try the sequel if it's available to you. It's called Garden of Eden I think, and it's extremely grim and sad (but still good). Even more so than the first mini.

I'll echo melperfect by saying that the second mini-series/trade is even better and more disturbing

The first and second series were both fun, twisted, over the top books. Any fan of Ennis's Preacher work should enjoy 'Just A Pilgrim' (and the letter column in the single issues might be worth picking up 'just' for Ennis's commentary)

when Garth Ennis is great he`s the best.I like his war stories and his punnisher stuff very much, but when he mixes his personal brand of weird with his creativity,on original characters,in unique stories,he beats all the other comic writers out there.Even Bendis and JMS, who i also love very much. The two Pilgrem graphic novels are Ennis at his best and for some reason, which i cant explain should be read in the spring or summer

Needless to say, these books had a large impact on my comic reading life:D , they're the kind of books you finish and just sit there and think about for awhile. i found them to be utterly mesmerizing.

didn't like the end to "Garden of Eden" though, just seemed out of chracter, and way to final.
