right now this is the best batman story going on. i love lieberman's charcterization of the joker. it's on par with moore, dini and grant. the last page was awesome i really didn't see that coming and i am now on pins and needles waiting for the nexxt issue.

yeah, I rather liked the appearance of "that guy." Haven't seen him in a while, despite his brief appearance in JLA/Avengers #4. He's one of my favorite villains, and I am looking forward to how Hush will approach him. I think this is a great arc thus far. You're right, the depiction of the Joker is superb. I can't wait to see how all of this turns out.

I've been pretty dissapointed with this "new direction". I think the first 2 issues of this arc were really just blah. This issue was a lot better, but why are we doing a story with Hush so soon? Since when is the Joker the Kingpin of Gotham? If they were trying to just play it off as some mental thing, I'd understand. Who finds time to "own" a city when they are in Arkham as much as he is?

"Kill him, slowly" so they beat him up and leave him on the pavement. Which way are we trying to go with the Joker here?

The art has been decent, nothing spectacular. What the hell is Robin spending 50 grand on btw? Never heard of Prometheus, looks like another late 80s/early 90s guy in armor suit with lots of guns character.

I'm enjoying this story way more than I enjoyed the original Hush story by Loeb.

Prometheus is from Grant Morrison's run on JLA and he's supposed to be a total bad ass. He single handedly gave the entire JLA (and I'm talking the extended line up that Morrison had going for a while with like 14 members) a run for their money, and in the process of doing that beat the crap out of Batman in a one-on-one fight.

But in the end he got taken out when Catwoman hit him in the nuts with her whip. Captain America also made short work of him recently in an issue of JLA/Avengers. So maybe the jury's still out on how great of a villain he is.

But there's definitely more to him than being the typical "80s/90s guns and armor" character.

I'm just glad he's back. He was instantly one of my favs during Morrison's run on JLA. I was disappointed that we hadn't seen him anywhere else in the DCU, which is why I'm glad he was in JLA/Avengers, and now in Gotham Knights

I loved the issue. I have to give it a B+. The Joker is what really made the issue for me. He comes off as such a badass.

I read in this JLA encyclopedia (pretty sure that wasn't the name of the book) that Prometheus can learn any fighting style by downloading it into his helmut (sp?). Like how they down loaded martial arts into their brains in the Matrix.

yeah, his helmet has a CD rom drive that downloads info from the CD directly into his brain. That's how he beat Bats the first time: he downloaded data on the 10 greatest martial artists. And of course, one of the 10 was Batman himself. When they fought again, Batman switched helmets on Prometheus, and he ended up downloading info on Stephen Hawking. Batman swiftly KOed him, saying afterwards "never thought I'd punch someone with motor neuron disease."
The best part of the issue was Hush getting the crap kicked outta him by the Joker's men. That knocked him down a peg.

Have to agree that Prometheus's return is just going to make a run I'm already engoying that much better! I also loved Joker's men beating the hell out of Hush, the guy isn't Superman, and I thought this really put things in perspective. The stuff with Joker, Penguin, and the Riddler was also excellent. I really like how they helped to establish a heirarcy with in the Rouges Gallery. I was nervouse at first that Lieberman was touching on Joker's origin was so blatently. I mostly remember this guy from the cancelled Harley Quin series and didn't really think his "take" on the Joker was really definitive or warrented. I've been pleasently surprised. He seems to be taking what Moore did in "Killing Joke" and being faithfull. This is a great series and always felt it's been underrated. I've loved both the Devin Grayson/Roger Robinson runs and the Scott Beatty run as well. This continues the tradition of excellence established by the previous creative teams and maybe now the sales will reflect he quality being created.
A+!

I'm really excited about the upcoming story that focuses on Joker's past and his relationship with his wife. I completely forgot that he was married until that scene where he was looking at a photo album. Really glad he decided to continue with that and not just leave it at the photo album. Can't wait to see what the Joker does with his wife's killer.

The storyline hasn't been too bad, so far, but I have to disagree with everyone here about the Joker. I can't stand this interpretation. He's too sane. The Joker is not a criminal overlord. He shouldn't be having long, lucid conversations with anyone.

He's an insane, homicidal maniac, not a mob boss in clown make-up.

Thank you, a voice of reason. Joker has never been a Kingpin of Gotham, he's the Clown Prince of Crime. I don't think this is bad, but I think maybe a story that kind of built up to him taking over the criminal underworld would've been better.

Now that you mention it, it is weird that Joker commands his men to kill Hush, but they beat the crap out of him only. But I do like the direction with the Joker's personality I just wish they balanced it with a bit of craziness or cracking a joke (something he hardly did here).

By the way, what issue mentions that the Joker's wife is killed (or is this something that just came up in this issue?)

His believed origin was in The Killing Joke, thats where his family was killed. In issue #50 he's shown looking at pictures of his pregnant wife. Jeannie
